What sites do people use when advertising or looking for houses with land for sale? Not looking for all singing all dancing properties a dooer upper would prob be best as I can take my time and have it how I like it. But where do I look?

Both too far from the sea (OH is an avid windsurfer). I'm torn between Morbihan in South Brittany or Northern Normandy which is closer to UK & Belgium and easier to return to if/when parents require more help. Think I'll send first one to OH as I love it!

Sorry OP for hijack! Around here (South East) Equus has best selection.

If you want the best weather you need to be south of the Loire ! How close does he need to be to the sea ? I am in Central France its a 3hr drive to the sea. Closer to the coast higher the prices.
Many parts of France are well connected to the Uk via the low cost airlines. I have two airports within a 45 min drive 3 flights a week in to Stansted.

Buying a place in France is not the issue - finding work to pay for the life in France most definitely is! I've got house 20 acres and 1 hectare lake in sunny south west France (Bordeaux) area which is worth less than the house I own in the uk with a postage stamp garden! Here though I can earn enough to fund my lifestyle - in France if you need to work it s pretty much impossible unless you are a tradesmen and even they are returning in droves. To note also are issues like heat/flies/grass too much of the first two for sensitive horses and not enough of the latter, Loire with its high rainfall would have less of these issues I imagine. ;)

I love France - will go back to live when I retire I expect but not whilst I need to work!

I've got one for sale in East Yorkshire with 4 acres and planning for stables and an arena - have also sent a pm. :)

It is amazing what you can buy in France in comparison to the UK. I totally agree with you regarding work in France it is difficult unless you have your own business or are a native speaker. That said I do know a number of people who commute.
North of the Loire has much higher rainfall and is slightly colder than the southern side its rather bizarre !
Any way OP sorry to highjack your thread.

Anyone know of any good websites to look for equestrian property in either North Shropshire or Gloucestershire/Bristol area :-)

Are any of these posters selling land in Hampshire?? :p PM please if so! :D

OP, I use primelocation, rural scene, local estate agents (e.g. Penyards) and Google - "land for sale in..." and "house with stables for sale in ...". Good luck with your search :)

Argh, what a shame you're not looking in the far north of England. My property only a few miles from Scotland/England border with the grazing and brand new stables already there!

We've gone with local estate agent (although they have national offices) as you can search on their site by amount of land required. Found this useful when looking as easier to narrow down.

Market is VERY slow...we've had only a couple of viewings in two months
