This is a piece of string type question, there are loads of business coaches on FB (look up Jenni Bush, the Equine Business Association), organisations like the Federation of Small Businesses, Chamber of Commerce, and yes, your own accounting software (I use Freeagent) will have some advice. The advice is out there, the challenges are what YOUR business needs and how well you are able to get on top of things and implement the changes needed.

Good luck, Ellie. Well done for having the courage and determination to succeed.
I ran my own private counselling practice for a couple of years, and it went quite well. I specialised in brief crisis intervention, with a maximum of six one hourly sessions, once a week. At one time, it seemed that I had a large proportion of a media company traipsing through my house.
Interesting work, but not particularly financially rewarding. I ran it alongside my part-time day job.
The dog (a large, silent, professionally-trained German Shepherd Dog) and I enjoyed it. GSD used to watch silently through the garden window as the service-users went upstairs to my clinic room.
I put her down as a security system on my tax return, with no concerns about IRS finding out that she was a four-legged system, rather than an electronic one . . .

FreeAgent is brilliant, I used to use that when I was Limited for my expenses, it was very easy to track and submit all your receipts and the dashboard was useful. My accountant was then able to process my pay by seeing what I had uploaded in respect of my expenses.
