I've gone down the route of aquiring an unbroken youngster, and I'm now training it to do exactly as I want

His first riding lesson is on valentines day- and yes its my treat
wink.gif
lol.

Easy way to do it- "its a horse, look- its like a big dog... and guess what- it can carry you so you dont have to walk.... isn't that a wonderful animal?... we should get some....

"

well, if anyone finds an undiscovered herd of single (straight) equestrian men in a bar somewhere, please give me a call and i'll come over with a lasso and polos.
alternatively, i agree with the above, the kind, non-jealous, mechanic/handyman/bucket-holder/general helper type is also worth his weight in gold.

I think you just have to find a 'normal' one and break them in to meet your own criteria. you have to be careful and not do too much too soon or they get headshy and silly and you have to turn them away and rough them off. Good luck with your search....;-)

LOL that is soooo true.

...buit I think the OP has asked a million dollar question.

The connection between single equestrian men and unicorns may hve some historical precedent, in that, in Greek mythology, a unicorn could only be tamed by a virgin, hence their allegorical status and rarity! As a mere male, I rest my case.

I found one that had strayed away from the main herd and snapped him up quick pronto.

The added bonus was that he came with a really lovely horse that I can compete too. His horse became my horse

and my 4 horses he keeps his hands off

Do you often go hunting for men in ditches. Cant say it would be the first meeting place I would have thought of

Blimey - there's plenty of us around really, but after reading the bitch pack's postings above, you all seem to want young, fit, good looking slaves - it's no wonder this old fox ran for cover in London!

Wily vixens welcome to track me down if they can!

*hand up* I found one!!

Very green, but trainable and extremely willing (providing good behaviour is rewarded). Will voluntarily turn out on a Sunday morning for me, and knows enough not to even TRY mucking out to my standard (but can fill in if dire emergency). Practical minded, so can do most DIY tasks, including fitting rubber matting into non-standard size stable. Can ride and looks good in jods. Objects to "horse" smell however, so will volunteer to buy me new boots/coats/gloves as necessary.

Found him in the Army, via the internet
blush.gif

Unfortunately (for you lot), he's no longer single. I married him before he left the Army and realised just how much time I do spend with my horse

QR

I've got one in my garden now!
grin.gif

I don't need him - my own unhorsey husband has proved to be a star when it comes to mucking out, holding, accompanying to shows, paying for it all, and he doesn't actually ride so there's no competition.

The one in the garden DOES ride, rather well actually, and is also a dab hand not only at the usual horsey tasks but hedging, fencing, ditching and building stables and schools!

I cant find one & I am not after a slave just a nice bloke who understands the commitment involved in horse ownership... Perhaps my hounds need re-training to pick up the scent

I've resorted to the internet.

www.muddymatches.co.uk

They are also putting on a muddy ball, it's a bit of a speed dating ball for 'Muddy people'

Have a look, that's where a lot of single horsey guys are hanging out
wink.gif

P.S I've been reading the forums for years, only today I felt compelled to join up, so that my fellow horsey ladies aren't giving up hope of there ever being horsey men- woo!

I think my ex is still available. He has 'our' beautiful home with 7 acres and brand new stables (which I had built) along with 'our' 4 horses (I kept one).
But, people and things arent always what they seem. Money and posessions don't make a person happy, and I had many unhappy years. People just saw the house, stables horses, horsebox etc etc and I hid the misery.
I am now in a tiny cottage with NO land, keep my ONE horse down the road, have NO money, but a lovely un-horsey man who is very very kind. He once said to me 'I don't do animals that are bigger than I am'. However, he now does EVERYTHING except ride, and to some extent, gets on better with my horse than i do. He's a star !
Let me know if you want my ex's details ! ! !

I know one - form an orderly queue please ladies:

Good looking, intelligent, sensitive, great sense of humour, NOT gay, fit (as in ex-special forces kind of fit), rides, mucks out, cleans tack, does his own washing, own home, hair and teeth. Only one drawback.......

He's in his sixties.

Sooo glad it's not just me who has this issue! I always said I never wanted a horsey guy cos the horses were 'me' time, but it's so impractical - my most recent ex just couldn't cope with me being at shows every weekend, and not being able just to do stuff without military scheduling around the ned. My mum actually said to me the other week that I was never going to find a nice man cos I spent all my time with the horses. I've widened my hunting grounds to include not just showjumping (all gay/married/arseholes), but dressage (not actually seen a man there yet - oh the joys of being rubbish and competing at low level) and point to point (just too damn busy with the horses and too covered in mud/slobber/clay to spark up conversation with any likely candidates...). The farrier route is a no go (please don't anyone ask!), and all the vets are on the wrong side of my dad's age. So where are they all indeed?
frown.gif

Had one years ago(an AI) and am very glad husband is not into horses
grin.gif

Mind you, think the problems were more to do with the AI being a bar steward then into horses....
