Hi Everyone
Looking into Design in equestrian clothing and gaps in the market as to what people would love to see within riding/yard wear. Please if anyone has any ideas as to what you would improve / like to see in your clothes let me know, even if it feels a bit silly or specific, im very interested to hear peoples opinions. Remember that i’m looking for responses towards all equestrian related items of wear, including comfy lounge type clothes for doing the dirty jobs around the yard or smart riding wear to make you feel your best!
Thank you, can’t wait to see any responses.

I want breeches cut for specific body shapes.

I’m pear shaped and want smaller high waisted with more room in hips and thighs.

Best buddy is apple shaped and needs more room in waist but slimmer fit in hips and legs.

My favourite jacket was eye wateringly expensive but it had been cut for a pear shaped, narrow waisted, fitted, slightly longer to cover backside and just stunningly tailored. It wore out and I’ve never found one even close to the fit or quality.

Proper fabrics as well please. Polyester is sweaty and stinky and stains easily.

Finally, clothing that is not covered in logos. No tacky embroidery, don’t need the word equestrian written anywhere on my clothing, or logo plastered across my boobs or down my arm or written in large sparkly letters on my a***.

……………and it does not need to be cheap. Expect to pay for quality

I'd like some boots that keep hay away from my socks!!!

Gloves that are really waterproof.

A hat or hood that does not stay still when I turn my head but still covers my ears.
I agree with hay in the socks i’m forever leaving a trail where I go, will be a great thing to look into. Thank you !!

I 100% agree on everything you said but oh my gosh the logos drive me spare!
I haven’t bought new equestrian clothes because everything has a bloody logo on it.

Sensible colours, as in nice dark green, navy etc colours that hide stains!
No or minimal logos as already mentioned.
Warm and waterproof gloves.
UV protection built into tops, we all spend a lot of time outdoors and it would be nice to have an extra layer of protection from the sun

Non stick! all my horse clothes seem to attract hair and hay. I don't want shiny tights but they seem to be the only option to stay half clean looking. I like to run and fill nets if i have a few minutes spare in my day or such like and so permenantly look like I've been rolling round in the hay shed.

I second the boots that don’t let hay in, my granddaughter took her boots off after filling up hay nets for me and there was nearly as much hay on the floor.
Easy peasy: cheap, pull-on pair of nylon/ rainproof over-trousers. Keep them next to your hay nets /store, g.daughter pulls them on over her boots for the duration, peels them off afterwards.
Budget supermarket, c£5 -£10, may as well get a really large pair for ease of use, and snip excess length with scissors.

If you can produce a pair of polartec jodhpurs identical to the old Musto Snugs, without infringing some copyright - should be onto a guaranteed winner.

Foot shaped flexible boots. And old school full leg chaps, but tbh I'm not your target group as most of my horse gear apart from jodhs tends to be day to day wear relegated to horse stuff once it's got too many holes in lol

Short boots that fit a high instep. Agree with no logos. Why should I pay to advertise a brand and also look really tacky. Yes Holland and Cooper I'm looking at you!

Another thought is using exclusively recycled materials, horse works is bad for the environment in general. And ideally natural or a blend of. I am not a big fan of synthetic stuff.

Hi vis vests that don't look like oversized workmen vests! I have so many ideas on how we could improve them, and start making people think its not "uncool" to ride in them! but I had no idea where to start with actually getting something like that manufactured

"Utility" breeches/tights that don't suck! Kerrits came out with the "Solutions" tight which I loved in theory... but besides the fact that they don't have belt loops (ALL of Kerrits breeches and tights fit me well.... EXCEPT the single model that doesn't have belt loops), the material is AWFUL. It's a nice weight and stretch, but hay and other crap sticks to them like no other pair of breeches or tights I've ever worn. And it pills really easily - I think I started noticing by my 3rd wear.

But in theory the idea of slightly sturdier tights with pockets everywhere that are comfortable to wear all day is brilliant!

(And please please make a long length!)

Interesting that a lot of the suggestions here can already be found in other sports - sailing, cycling and golf are years ahead for waterproofing, minimal logos, and SPF/UV clothes for example.

None of it comes cheap though…

This is me, i just relegate old clothes, apart from riding tights and long socks, non of my clothes are equestrian because i hate them getting ruined 🤣

Welly boots that last a whole winter that you don't need to take a mortgage out to buy - not neoprene! some of us women of a certain age can not stand hot feet! (but we don't like cold feet either!)

Search welly toppers on ebay, less than £10. Look daft but keep it out and stop you pouring a bucket or water down your welly too.

Why not do it then? I've no idea whats involved but make up a prototype and see how you get on. I too dislike the majority of high viz stuff.

Double ended zips on all jackets and fleeces and tops
Absolutely no logos
No silicon on jods/breeches (nowt wrong with clarino)
Boot-cut jods
Kerrit’s boot cut, micro cord. Pull on (excellent flat waistband), clarino knees, no bloody pocket-pouches, either.
American, not as obtainable in UK, but a knock-off copy much appreciated!

Breeches/Jodphurs/tights for those with short legs! All my riding tights/breeches I have to fold up the bottom of to be able to fit. How hard is it to make some petite sizes?
Long boots for those of us with short legs. It's impossible to find a long riding boot which doesn't cut in to the back of my knees when I so much as think about bending my knees.
