Equestrian Wear

Riding tights which actually have a shaped bum. I've got some Legacy ones, which I love, and some from Ariat which must have been designed by a man! And pockets as mentioned above, preferably without tiny zips at the top of large, deep pockets, rendering them useless.

Tough zips that dont start sticking after one season.

Waterproof gloves that aren't padded too.

Second the petite comment, and NB petite doesn't mean 5'6". It's should be 5'2" max (I'm 5'0").

A petite Equicoat/Reincoat type, which doesn't get covered in mud on the bottom 30cm.

Jackets where you can zip off the sleeves so you're warm when you arrive at the yard, but can turn it into a gilet when you're getting hot mucking out.

Flourescents with pockets, lights front and back, reflective strips and at least 2 colours so we are safe in bright sunshine as well as in low light levels.

Puffa made the best jackets with zip off sleeves. Never found another jacket of the same quality.

Also be aware if you are getting samples made they are very expensive. Most clothes are made abroad and not many manufacturers give you a tour of their factories or their sustainability and environmental policies. Fast fashion is very much alive in the equestrian industry and we need to do better.

My husband would love some loose fitting men's breeches / riding trousers, and at normal prices. His only options are skin tight jodhpurs, jeans or baggier Jodhs/breeches that cost a fortune.
 
Summer weight pull on jodhpurs / tights that aren’t so thin they’re nearly see through that don’t get bobbly rub marks when worn with wellies & that hay doesn’t stick to.

Haynet filling gloves that hay doesn’t stick to & doesn’t get inside, are thick enough that the spiky bits can’t get you and breathable enough that they don’t spend half their life being dried out on the radiator!
 
something I don’t think I’ve seen much of in equestrian clothing is nice long sleeved hi-vis jumpers or long sleeved sporty tops for when it’s warm. Or even just very bright tops that look nice and have a nice fit. I usually wear my yellow nike top but it’s not really built for the wear and tear of horsing.
 
Clothes that fit the average shaped person rather than something that only looks good on a skinny, minnie stick insect. I dont mind close fitting but i would like to wear riding leggings that arent either so tight you can see literally everything or baggie and keep falling down (I am a size 12 btw). And if something is a size 12, make it to fit a size 12. i am fed up of having to 'size up' to get something to fit me.

As others have said, no huge logos or glittery stuff that falls off.

And dont get us started on equi tax!
 
Winter tights in a beige colour with phone pocket. Suitable for hunting. You'd think there'd be loads on the market, but beige tights with a pocket are hard to find. And fleece lined water resistant tights that are both beige and have a pocket are even rarer.

My pets for this are Musto Ultimate Snugs (no pockets, but enough in my hunt coat, waistcoat), still going strong after how many years, and funnily enough, recently seen some unworn ones on eBay. Must admit, I wouldn’t ever wear beige for anything else, so can understand how they might never have been used, keep looking, maybe you’ll drop lucky?
 
Base layers that don't make you stink.

Reinforced pocket in coats so my keys don't escape out of a hole in the lining when I'm galloping around massive hay fields.

I generally just pull a pair of boots on over my leggings and stretchy dress combo when doing the horses after work. No difference in riding performance.
 
Longer length tops that cover the majority of your bum in the back and camel toe in the front but arent oversized everywhere else - I still want to look like I have 'a' shape - just not show the shape of my nethers!

Both of these and also tops that are designed for short people. Currently xsmall and small just mean xslim and slim. I have to buy medium or, occasionally, large and then have arms and legs that are far too long.
 
Boots and wellies with proper foot support. As a plantar fasciitis sufferer I really struggle with boots/wellies and end up wearing walking trainers for all but the muddiest of jobs. It would be so nice to put a pair on when I leave the house and not have to change 3 or 4 times before getting home again. I have very thick feet (for want of a better phrase - I mean top to bottom rather than side to side) so can't add insoles to boots as there's no room left for my foot if I do.

Hy do pink and yellow hi vis long sleeved base layer tops and used to do sport active base layer that you could get in orange (you might still find them on ebay new). I've the sport active base layer in bright orange which has been used for 2/3 summers and is still in great condition.
 
Tops with a more relaxed fit and in natural fibres. I find the tight clingy plasticky tops so uncomfortable and restrictive. You literally have to peel them off at the end of the day.

I have these from Premier Equine. They have 2 massive phone leg pockets, 2 normal front trouser pockets, and a back pocket. They have a zip so are jodhpurs instead of tights, but fabulous high waist that supports your back.

They aren't as dark as the advert in reality. They are warm and wind/water resistant. The grip is just right too, with the soft silicon rather than the cheaper hard stuff.

But I would be quick if the colour doesn't bother you, as they are showing as discontinued, although still available.

The HY ones are actually quite nice. Annoyingly their tops are a terrible fit on me as I have pretty long arms and I like my sleeves long.
 
I’ve been having a think about this whilst mucking out this morning 😂
I know a lot of equestrian lasses who are shorter and pear shaped so I really like the idea of clothes specifically made for body shapes. It would take much more research to get fit and styles right but I think that would be interesting and make for a cool website where you can pick your shape and see the range for you.

Most brands just do petite, regular and plus size so it would be a selling point actually making clothes for real women.

I’m a pretty standard size for bottoms so I can only imagine how annoying or uncomfortable it must be to roll up the bottom of your tights the whole time.
 
Definitely not riding tights, 3/4 zip tops or base layers with lots of logos. There are too many companies doing this already, with probably the same factories churning them all out!

Waterproof riding gloves would be amazing, I’ve found yard ones but they are so bulky to ride in.

Agree with others about clothing to fit woman’s body shapes - I’m quite pear shaped and really struggle to find any bottoms with more structure that fit me and don’t end up with a saggy waist. I end up going for riding tights but would prefer traditional breeches that fit really well.
