Does anybody know if the rumor that Equi-Trek are going to do a conventional 7.5 ton lorry is true?
If so do you have any info about it?
I have looked on there web site and no mention of it but a few people have said they think it is in the pipeline!

Those were the kind of things I was hearing i.e. Brand new chassis and around the £40,000 mark!

If this is true and it looks as good as the other boxes they make im going to get saveing!!!

I just cant understand how they could do it on a brand new chassis for that price, its such good value.

I think Equi-Trek could be the next big thing in horse transport with the range they are building up.

I presume that is 40K + VAT. But still cant see how they can do it a brand new chassis will be easily 20K. And hope thier delivery dates are good cos about 3 weeks ago there was a thred on this forum from a man that had had a real bad time with waiting for an Equi Trek Sonic it was months over due and when the poor man got it the paint work was terrible I felt really sorry for the man.

I read that post and from what I understand it was peugeot's fault that the box was late not equi-treks. As for long delivery times what do you expect with such a good product?

I had the old five star and it was a very good trailer but had a few "teething troubles" however I could not have been looked after any better with everything put right within a couple of days and my first service was done for free as a good will gesture.

I now have a shiny new star treka and the improvements are remarkable, the trailer is a joy to use.

I was panicking that I would have to go to another manufacturer as we now have 3horses (star treka only take 2) but if there is a 7.5 ton box comeing out that solves all my problems!

Fingerw crossed

The roumers are true, we are due to launch our 7.5 ton horsebox at Burghley 2008.

The 7.5 ton box, now named Endeavour will be built on a brand new Izusu chassis with a 3 year warranty. It will be stalled for 3 horses and have a massive 2.5 ton payload.

Any questions, please ask!

i love my Equitrek Star Trekka. Highly recommend them. Wouldnt have any issues recommending people to go visit Equitrek. Plus Tom has been great all the way through buying both of our trailers (first the Show Trekka then just upgraded to the Star Trekka earlier this year) . Brilliant service from Equitrek and the team, no problems what so ever.

You must ignore that earlier post. Yes the guy was complaining, but it seemed to be Peugeots issues not Equitrek, and he never gave Equitrek the chance to resolve any of the issues. he said he was a business man, me thinks not cos if he was he wouldntve gone about it the way he did.

Full marks for Equitrek & Tom - im a very very happy customer.

that makes me feel a bit better about it - I know its only one story about a bad deal - but it sounded pretty bad - and I would hate to forking over that kind of cash and be messed around. I will go back to lusting over the pictures on the website now - until I sell my 7.5t lorry!

"No The Colonel who blatantly works for or owns Equi-Trek"

Cheeky git no I dont work for or own Equi-Trek I bought both my trailers from through Scot Bird at SBL trailers and yes I would fully recomend SBL and Equi-Trek.

I wouldn't be interested if they did - had a look at their smaller models at a show the other day and to be honest they looked very cheaply fitted inside.

The price sounds good if its true at £40,000 BUT Izusu chassis????? What an earth are they thinking, obviously payload but nothing else, My family are in road haulage & we would never see Izusu as a serious long haul & long life contender, they are designed for local operation & are dreadfully uncomfortable on long runs as for dealer back up, just look at Izusu trucks website for dealers, they are very few & far between in rural areas where usually horse owners are to be found!! This would have been alot better on a mainstream manufacturers chassis thats proven, you see alot of old Leyland/Daf, Ford & MAN around, still cheap to run & easy to fix, & plenty of established dealers, cant foresee an Izusu lasting 10 to 15 years, guess time will tell

You are forgetting this is the cheapest Euro4 compliant 7.5t horsebox available for sale. For someone living or using one of these in the South East or Manchester (very soon), it will be in high demand. You maybe able to buy a 2nd hand box cheaper on a mainstream chassis, but by the time you convert it to low emissions standards or pay the LEZ charges and maintain that annually, it would be cheaper to run a new one.

This seems a giant leap forward, up until now we had to buy a old box van and get it converted by what seem to be mosty bodgers ending up with something almost but not complety what you expected, over weight, oftern many monthes later than promised.. or buy second hand if very rich a new oakley or other awesome coach built horse carrying gin palace.. the price seems competitive (not much more than a late 4x4 and trailer) the trailers they make seem good but a little bit tinny having said that theres not much choice as they have to be kept light to be legal and towable by our cars I do think the americans have the best trailers maybe a smaller version towed by a uk pick up would be good
check out coolhorse.com to see the american trailers..

The price is actually £47K all the equi-trek reps handily forget the VAT when they are doing their posts. A brand new 4x4 and trailer would cost you a fraction of that.

Also what is the unladen weight, they are advertising it as a 3 horse but is it really? They advertise their 3.5 tonners as 2 horse and everyone knows that they aren't.

Agree re Isuzu - friend who has used them in haulage trade really doesn't rate them - used for paper delivery and need the payload but had so many problems they have gone back to MAN for reliability and had an extra vehicle to cover payloads off.

I looked around the Equitrek at Burghley as we are just in process of redoing our own box and myself and OH were not too taken with the build quality to be honest and both said if we had been looking for a new lorry the finish would have put us off, we also stood at the stand for around 10 mins looking around box (obviously looking, not discussing how to build ours) and both sales guys were chatting on thier phones (obv personal calls) all the time we were there - we left, I wonder how many others did
