Has anyone got one of these, we need to upgrade our trailer and I want something that now and again, for very short runs only, will take 3 horses. This lorry is advertised as having 2750 carrying capacity and I was wondering if these lorries have the same issues as the trailers or if people find them fantastic.

We have had our Endeavour Excel since mid June and love it. Even though not the Elite no matter where we go it always gets admired and people ask if they can have a look. Its so easy to drive but still seems big and light enough to fit 3 horses in, we have only ever had 2 in. However, there have been many issues! Firstly we odered it Nov 09 and delievery date was mid March to cut a long story short the delivery date kept being pushed back (sometimes without us knowing). After speaking to the main man at Equitrek, complianing and calling at least once a day for 2 weeks or so we got it 2 days before we were due to stay in it! Any friends who have ordered an equitrek have all had delays and found customer service needs improving to say the least. The build quality seems lazy at times for example you could not carry 3 saddles as 1 of the saddle racks is about 6 inches from botoom of locker but if the saddle racks were swapped places they would be fine. Luckily the dealer (from Biggar, Edinburgh) we went through has been fab we gave him a list of ALL the problems and he ensure they are sorted. I would definately go through a dealer and find out how they have dealt with issues. It is a lovely lorry for us and horses but Equitrek just let themselves down a bit. Tried to keep it brief but hasnt work, hope this helps.

The two things that would put me off one are firsty they are built on a Isuzu chassis which arent well liked in the transport industy, cab is small and they have a cheap feel to them, And the other thing is you look at one at a show and think thats good value for money... £39 k hmm tempting!!! then you find everything is extra unless you want cattle truck spec.
so I would say if you have that sort of budget you could get a high end lorry on a DAF chassis... have you looked at these www.kevinparkerhorseboxesltd.co.uk..
or if you want a more basic box with a good payload there is tristar down in wales... hope that helps....

Agree with perfect11s, we weren't sure about the chassis either. Also as we wanted a few specific extras equitrek were the best option for us. If only need day living would have thought you would get a better deal elsewhere.

The chassis would put me off too. I know someone who had one, started to fall to bits after 6 months. the finish on them is shoddy and they don't stand up to a lot of wear and tear (look at the one Oli townend had last season- it was trashed) She didn't like how it drove either.

Thanks folks, thats interesting info. We have decided to leave it just now as my daughter is thinking about doing her HGV so hopefully it will be a lot easier to take 3 out.

Yes the bigger than 7.5 tons are better if you want massive living and 3 plus horse capability the downside is running costs and the pesky tachograph ...

Perfect11s, thats the rub isn't it lol. I dont really want large living just day but the majority of lorries have HUGE living and hardly any horse space. The others I have called about cant even tell me what the unladen weight is. So I have given up may even just buy another 4x4 and a trailer lol and get daughter to drive that instead.
