Hi,

I have an equi-trek sonic lorry (the small, basic 2 horse one), but for some reason which ever horse I take in it, seems to have a bit of a problem standing up around corners!! - some being worse than others. I am a really careful driver so I know its not my driving, any ideas? I have had 4 different horses in the lorry from 13.2hh - 15.2hh, but only ever one in at a time, which I always put in the far side - this being the side nearest to the kerb/ furthest away from the ramp. The partition seems to be set central. I do know they say you don`t have to put the horse in this side of the lorry, but it seems to make more sense with the camber of road. They are tied up with one of those elasticated safety bungee ties. Thanks

OHH gosh it gets me confused all this back to front traveling, yes I have been putting them next to the kerb, which I`ve stated above, when I`ve ment to put them on the opposite side to counter balance the camber of the road like in a trailer - could this be it! I read something on equi trek site when first got it though about you don`t have to allow for the camber of the road in these lorries and you can travel on this side, which is how now I remember, I got to using this side when a big chunky youngster didn`t take too well to being packed next to the ramp and so stuck with it after that!

I think Brighteyes IS loading away from the kerb?

I agree, this should be most stable place for one horse. Perhaps it worth trying the passenger side, just to see?

Have you had the suspension, and tyres, checked?

Eta, I didn't read the OP properly, sorry

OP, the reasoning by Equi-Trek is that the ramp weight counter balances a horse put in on the furthest side, as your ramp is on the road side of the box (towards the white line).

Please do get your tyre pressures checked and the suspension completely gone through too, you may have a damaged damper or leaf-spring issue for example.

Try also a seasoned traveller on a rope instead, perhaps they are balancing on the bungee a little & finding it hard to keep balance as the bungee gives too much?

Can you get someone to drive the box while you stand in the back? If so, find out how it feels.

Hope you get it sorted

I have recently been using an Equitrek for a bad traveler, he can hardly stand up going round corners in a trailer, I had a moment of thinking about how to load and travel him as the ramp is on the drivers side, I put him on the drivers side and he travels fine just a few wobbly moments when setting off but nothing like he has been in the trailer.

I had a similar problem a year ago when our normally good traveller decided that she could not stand up in the trailer - it turned out to be as simple as uneven tyre pressures. I was surprised that as little as 60psi in a tyre that should be 65psi could make so much difference.
