The only bad thing is the hitch lock isn't easy to release with the key. It's never been easy and I don't know if some water got in? I've tried WD40 and clipper oil but I always have to allow about 10 minutes of struggling before we can hitch it up to the car. I'm worried the key will snap off at some point!
The only other slightly annoying thing is that the jocky door into the tack area is too narrow to get my mounting block in.
Apart from that everything else is brilliant and the horse loves travelling in it.
I have the show trek L and totally love it. Never had any problems with it. Easy to tow, reverse etc. I'll be using the living properly for the first time in September so should be interesting.
@ Misinterpreted - You might want to mention that to Equitrek or whoever services your trailer. I haven't had any problems with mine so maybe some fault etc etc. Sure they can sort it out for you.
There have been some reports on here that the axles 'break' and that equitrek aren't so keen to mend them. When I quizzed the agent on this, he said that the problem occurs when they are 'curbed' too often (ie poor driving), so if buying 2nd hand make sure you have it properly checked over.
Ramp is a breeze! My issue (minor) is bringing the ramp down! LOL. Being only 5ft 2 I have to give it a little "heave". But nothing major really. Once it moves it is really controlled both up and down.
You can get it checked by a reputable Equitrek dealer. Where are you based?
The axle breaking / problems seem to have been with the older Treks. They have since changed coachbuilders, as I understand.
I was thinking about buying a Show Trekka then I read the British Eventing Forum comments. It seems that even the ones that have done not many miles are having problems with the axles breaking and wheels falling off and they are saying they are getting no help from Equitrek. Does anyone know of any alternative trailers?
