Equi-Trek trailer owners - what add-ons do you have?

I'm about to order an Equi-Trek as my giant horse won't fit in my Brenderup anymore, and the Show Treka L is 8-10" bigger all around.

I now live in the US. Since they haven't been imported to the USA for very long I don't have a lot of people to ask about this trailer, and there's a laundry list of extras you can order for them. Buying and installing those later seems like a big import hassle. In the USA, this is not a cheap trailer - the import fees really add up... I have read that the build quality is variable too...

What extras did you get? What do you wish you got, or regret getting?

Seems like the base model in the US is a bit simpler than the UK base model. I am considering adding:

Tie rings (comes with 2)
Leisure battery
Seat with storage
12v socket
Additional horse area vents (which kind?)
Extra height safety loading doors - they seem flimsy: any comments?
Padded walls
Loading light

Extra ventilation - I put in two roof whirly ones - was a must

I had couple of lockers and rug racks which proved useful to me

However I owned mine when the build quality was dubious and although the horses travelled very well in it,
 
Ive just bought a 2nd hand one, it has the seat with storage but I certainly wouldnt pay a lot to have it as an extra as Im not sure what you would/could store in there :)
 
I second the seat with storage- pointless really, and gets in the way when you try and manoevre saddles and bigger stuff into the storage area! I would also agree about ventilation- as much as possible-whirly roof vents sound good- would love to have a window/ventilation in the jockey door at the back. We travel all year round with the windows open (even in the uk winters!) with two horses it gets warm- this weekend we travelled one two year old on a 2 hr journey- outside temp was about 8-14 degrees- it was still warm inside!- Also whilst I love the moveable partition-great when travelling one small, one big horse, this weekend we travelled one on his own, and because we were going to a show and he has white legs and bum/tail we decided to move the partition so that it was on the outside (so that he had the whole trailer to stand in and didn't do his usual stand well back with tail and bottom on the wall)-ie next to the loading doors and ramp- only to find that we couldn't open the partition to get him in when it was here!
Comments re loading doors- yes they are flimsy, we had one horse that got the rope/headcollar caught on the hinge end- when ramp was open and horse were just stood in trailer at a show, and pulled the door off!

I got mine third hand, and it's a show trekka so can't comment on the seat storage. Mine has extre windows which I tend to keep open and it has extra tie rings (really useful) and storage racks fitted at the top back in the horse area. Great for keeping boots and rugs in. First owner had got the loo as well and I assume she liked it as she kept for her replacement! I (and my horses, who travel well in it) really like the trailer and the build quality feels as good as any other.
 
I love mine! It's a Show Trekka, but have had a Space Trekka previously. I bought my current one new and the extras I had were a roof vent, curtains in the living area (completely un-necessary!), solid collapsable breast bar, leisure battery with plug sockets and 12V socket in the living area which is great for charging mobile phone, running a radio, fridge etc, CCTV camera in horse area and extra windows in the horse area which do improve the ventilation. I did look at the padded walls, but the cost really put me off and I though he would cope without them....and he does! Enjoy it, they are great trailers.
 
When I had my show trekka I had;

Window with curtains (although curtains can be made if your a dab hand)
Roof vents in horse area x 2
White loading gates (easier to clean) I didn't feel the need for extra height ones.
I just had the basic living didn't think it worth the upgrade to leather
Tack lockers on each side, one for tack, other for everything else, they are a godsend. But make sure you keep an eye on the sealant as it can leak when trailer is washed out.
Awning on the side was a luxury but I loved it in the rain/sun. Gave great shelter for ponies and us.
I never bothered with padding as I always put a sheet/rug on the ponies.
Extra tie rings inside and outside.

With regards to the build quality, I was warned off buying one by a few people but also recommended by some. It's the design that I loved, the horses always travelled beautifully in it and the ride is good for them too.
 
The tack lockers are great it just means you can keep the living area (which isn't massive) a bit more clutter free and much cleaner. We had one with a saddle rack (for 2 saddles) and bridle hooks and one that was just a cupboard for grooming kit, hats & boots etc.
 
Are the tack lockers extra? Mine has two and they are great. Means I don't have to keep kit in the car or living area. And I keep grooming kit and wash kit in all the time saves packing time.

We bought 2nd hand and it had them already but I'm pretty sure thy are as I've seen some without.
 
OP - tack lockers definitely. Just a word of caution, make sure you shut them before driving off - I drove 6 miles with mine open. No idea how I didn't leave a wee trial of kit!

I am only going to get one tack locker that comes as standard at this stage, as horsy is 17+H and wears an 84-87" blanket (7'3") so he's loooooong and I feel like he needs all the front space possible. But looking at the pics he could put his head in the back door space?

The specs I was given are horse area - 9’ 8” long, 6’7 ” bar to wall, 6’ 7”wide, 7’ 6” tall inside. That means to space from the breast bar to the back wall for his head is 37": does that sound right?

I will skip the seat + storage.... actually I am not sure I can add that to the Show Treka.

And looks like extra windows in the horse area, Flettner vents and maybe an extractor fan too? I'm in California so it's warm. Looks like I'll add the big front window an curtains too. In for a penny!

I had the larger space trekka model and my 17.1 ISH fitted fine with tack lockers and he a big horse but sure you could check dimensions to see if they the same as your model. I am in Scotland which is not particularly warm and found my two horses were too warm in the trailer with the four windows fully opened until put in the roof ventilation. I wouldn't bother with the step/storage thing as sure you could get someone handy to put something better in for you if you wanted it than what equitrek put in.

Don't forget that your spare tyre goes one tack locker they give as standard although there is still a lot of space for other bits and pieces
 
They put their heads over the tack lockers (which also make a handy shelf for haynets) so they don't take up any more room. They can't stand any further forward without them anyway as the breast bar is behind them. If he's travelling alone you can move the partition over to allow him to stand diagonally if he needs more room.
