As per title really, wondering if you have one, are you happy with it? What is the build quality like? I need something that can comfortably tow, 2 BIG horses! Not bothered about living areas etc, just want nice horse area. Would have to be between the Show Treka L, or the Space Treka L for the payload!

I have the Space Treka L and I really love it. I like the rear facing idea and I think the trailers are smart and I like the low to the road wheelbase.

I know there has been some bad press about them and so long as the one you are after has no known wheel axle faults (these should be on recall) then I can't see a problem.

I transport a 17hh WB - I use a SWB Shogun, which actually we want to upgrade as I know I could not tow 2 horses with that weight towing vehicle. :)

You'll get half telling great, hald telling you dreadful.

Personally I love mine. Show trekka L. Had it 7 years, and its brilliant. Just make sure your towing vechile is big enough.

I am looking for one with living in, also much easier to load horses by yourself, though I have heard of bad rumours about eqi trek. I would take these with a pinch of salt however as a lot of bad press I have heard comes from other manufacturers! I would go see for your self.

we had a showtreka, and had problem after problem from the day it arrived brand new, everything from small things like door locks coming off, tack locker leaking etc, to major as in wall coming away from floor in horse area, rubber peeling up on ramp....... i could go on! the customer service we got was appalling, so from my point of view, would not recommend to any one, maybe we were just unlucky!

We looked at them and the ramp doors were made with thin plywood which looked like it had just had a quick coat of paint, locks etc looked small and like they might not last long. There were also some second hand ones in and they had lots of condensation, leaks or mould in them. We went for a Ifor Williams in the end,.

I have to say, as a trailer I like them but I don't think the build quality is very good. Eg my friend has one:

3 years old-barn stored (ALL of the time)

paint is peeling off
ramp has twisted 3 times
rubber in horse bit keeps bubbling up
not enough ventilation
door frame is slightly coming away

these are all annoying things, maybe not massive but bear in mind it only is used 12 times (15 MAX) per year I don't think it is that good.

She traded in a 20year old Rice trailer and got more money for that than she would now get for a 3 year old Equitrek...might tell you something!

I know I harp on (sorry!), but we looked at all the trailers available about a year ago.

Read up on lots of experiences, etc., and decided not to buy a new one.

Bought an ancient three horse wooden trailer. Replaced everything on it, from tyres to brakes to electrics to floor. Now have a solid and sound trailer :D. He's not yet pretty, needs sand blasting and spraying, but everything is safe and secure :D

We looked at equitreks lorries - they lost out on a sale due to build quality to be honest. The ramp and partitions didn't look particularly sturdy to me and the payload just wasn't enough for two horses.

Its not rumours its fact that why there on a recall a cost cutting excersise that has gone badly wrong.

I have just returned from another 200 mile round trip after a weekend away with my ShowTrekka M, it is 2 years old now & has been used on average at least twice a week. Nothing has broken on it or fallen off, it tows lovely & Fleur travels really well. I go by myself everywhere with it, hitch & unhitch alone, all absolutely fine.

I recently posted - similar thread, a local coach builder will NOT take any of these trailers on a PX due to quality and saftey. I have no experience myself.

I have an Ifor 505. My mare was being a bit claustrophobic about unloading, so I posted a question on here about whether it was worth swapping for an Equitrek. The overwhelming response was no. IIRC this was before the issues with the axles came to light. As I will be changing back to a lorry at some point soon, the considered opinion was that the resale value would be better on my Ifor, it would be easier to sell; and also that the Equitrek towed like a rubber band. One poster said that after towing with a borrowed Equitrek, she was in tears

All hearsay, but safe to say I didn't bother changing from my Ifor.

i have had my show trekka L for about 4 years now. have had a host of problems (including a broken axle :( ) and have had some really crappy customer service from them. HOWEVER...recently they have recalled my trailer and fitted a new axle FOC and i have to say the customer service was actually very good- i think they have been working on improving this given all of the bad press....
in terms of travelling- my horses have always travelled brilliantly in it-including my little TB that wouldn't entertain a normal trailer. it tows great and is really handy at shows for tacking up etc.... so i guess i'm a bit split down the middle on this one....

LOVE my space trekka M - had it second hand only paid £3650 - no issues except head partition broke but other half soldered it together so ok. Ramp etc all unmarked and looked like new. Finish isnt the best but wouldnt change it - had an ifor before and nags didnt travel that well - also bit at front with small seat is great for storing all gear so car doesnt get dirty and I think it tows really well.

Friend paid £10k for Show trekka L from new and has had loads of problems with it - 99% of problems seem to be with the larger show trekka L between certain dates - they are v heavy so unless you need all the living at front I would go for space trekka although her seatig is nice to sit on for a coffee when out and about - if space trekka you could put seating in front if OH clever.

Hope this helps - probably just confuses even more
