equi trek trailers

Hi guys,

I Have a 3 horse layland road runner lorry which I really like, problem is my 17.2hh looks so cramped in it. Its 7'6 high and 7'6 wide. Currently I have the patitions set at such an angle (to give her more room) that only two horses fit with her on board.

She still doent look happy in it which puts me off going long distances. SOooooo....

I was thinking of getting a equitrek trailer. My thinking is why have a lorry if only 2 horses will fit and I know she travels well in a trailer.

I think its because she has neck room in a trailer.

Does any one have an equitrek and travel big horses? she needs all 7'6 of the headroom and takes a 7' to 7'3 rug, so would she fit in it?

I would tow it with a long wheel based shogun so weight should not be an issue.

Any ideas?? Have tried shrinking her and she just wont!!

Before you do that, have you tried the biggest Ifor and biggest Rice ones out for size? Just a thought, they're pretty big. Although I guess you want to travel three sometimes....
 
My friend has (can't remember exactly what one) a medium-sized Equi-Trek with one 16hh warmblood in, and tows with a Toyota Landcruiser. Fab combination, and although you wouldn't want anything bigger than a skinny 15.2hh TB next to the warmblood, it works well (he never used to travel very well and he loves his trailer now). I imagine the large-sized Equi-Treks are huge, but not having seen one I'm not sure a 17.2hh plus another one will fit, width-wise. I think my friend has her horse's partition wuite large though hence why I assume they are quite narrow for such a big box...

Can you go to have a look at one? I know I have an Equi-Trek dealer down the road from me, and I imagine it would be useful for you to go and have a look!
 
Hopefully going to see one this weekend, my OH is going to love spending his precious weekend doing that!

what about loading the horses? any problems getting them to make the turn into a side loading trailer?
 
Never a problem, Cookie was far more of a bugger getting him to load into a forward-facing Ifor than sideways onto the Equi-Trek! It's much more airy and light and looks like a much bigger space, and there's plenty of room to get them to shifty their bums over.
 
I travel a 16.3 weed in a 'M' equitrek, love it. I have put in a 17.2 ++ in to travel and the only sticking point was purely his length as sometimes it was hard to turn his head to bring him out. Have you looked at the 'L' dimensions at all?
If you are looking at a basic model then you have a horse space of 2035mm/81inches x 2896mm/115 inches.
The roof height is 2509/99.
 
Hi My Horse is about 17hh and he travels really well in equitrek L although my OH really doesn't like towing it as it is heavy and my horse really sweats in it and I wouldn't like to tow two horses in it. We have a fourtrack 2.8 td I would rather go back to a lorry.

Would you like to swap? I have a Ford Cargo 811 that is uber-reliable, but I don't need to carry 3 horses anymore and would love to downgrade!
 
i have an oldish, wooden/steel trailer designed for 2 big horses and a pony that has been converted just to take 2 big horses which is brilliant. tow with a disco. my horse is 16.3 and compact (6'6 rugs) so swims a bit in it, but my sisters horse is 16.1 and really long (7' rugs) and its perfect for him.

i'd look at the cheaper options first if i were you. i've never had a problem with this trailer, and on the odd occasion i have had to get parts - no problem most people have them in stock!
