does anybody know anything about the equi-trek (show treka) trailer, good or bad, not sure if to change ifor williams to a equi trek or not. Like the thought of been able to make tea whilst children do various shows etc.
I have always liked the equi-trek trailers more than the ifor williams because of the same reason as you, that was until yesterday when i past one on the motorway going extremley slow, and wandering/swaying all over the road.Im not sure if it was the driver, the load,or just the way they travel. All of the ifor williams looked as if they were travelling alot better.
i changed my ifor williams for an equi-trek (space-treka) last summer and i would never go back to a normal trailer again!
Why?! - lets you store all your tack and smelly gear in it so doesnt stink out the car!
- my horse totally loves travelling in it, no more banging and is excellent to load into it
- gives you somewhere to change at a show/event
- you can easily tack up/brush your horse while it is in the trailer (great for a rainy day!)
- loads of light in it, so is really handy at nights
- great sized jockey door, no more scrambling in and getting covered in hay!
And most of all i find it easier to tow and doesnt move around so much in the wind. I could go on and on at how great this trailer is and would definatly recommend the space treka. I wasnt so keen on the show treka as its alot longer and doesnt give you so much space to change in ect. You should go and have a look a one if you can. Hope this helps!
Great thanks, children tend to get changed anywhere!! Hubby and I want to sit, relax, keep dry and drink coffee so show treka would be for me, what do you tow yours with?? we have a landrover defender which we think will tow easy.
I know 2 people who have one, both love them but one person has towed both and says his mates sways on the motorway and wont tow it anymore. His is fine though. Why, they dont know. Its been serviced and everything.
Just was talking about these the other day, have heard that you do need the 7.5 tonne licence for them if you are towing 2 horses as they weigh more than the IW. That might be wrong though.
ive just sold my show trekka, loved it, only sold it as ive upgraded to the star trekka. My show trekka towed like a dream. we sold our wagon to get the Equitrek, we love it, the living area is great for sitting down and relaxing, making tea/sarnies (mums job
) like others have said, the horse bit has a great jockey door and youve got plenty of room to get your horse ready/untacked etc when its raining. Well worth the investment.
Love mine! I'm on my second - I had a Sports Treka for 3 years and got a Show Treka last year. The horses travel well, they're good to tow, lots of light and space, the living means I can get a decent night's sleep and have somewhere clean to keep my stuff separate from the horse's. There are some design niggles but nothing you can't either learn to live with or get fixed.
I have got a night treka and love it to bits, I have towed it with several 4 x 4's and have found it tows differently with different vehicles. I think the key is to make sure your tow ball is at the correct height for the tow hitch as they tend to be very low on the equitreks. It really does make a big difference to the handling.
