Am thinking of getting the space treka L (My biggest boy is 17.2, and we have a LWB showgun)
Does anyone have experience with these trailers are they safe, easy to manage, etc. How have people got on with them?

I don't like the way Ifors rattle and feel unsteady, especially on motorways, and my horse is not good in an Ifor but travels much more calmly in a lorry.

Please dont advise me to get a lorry - I don't want another lorry, as for the price of an equitrek (which I can only just about afford) I'll only be able to get another old lorry - been there, done that and I've been scarred for life stuck in the middle of no where with broken lorry, being all dressed up and ready to go, but lorry wont start again, and the never ending cost of constant maintenance, which has run into thousands of pounds over a pretty short period of time, etc, etc. (and I'm not just talking about one lorry I've had 3 duffers, back to back!)

Hi I can totally recommend one. I used to have an Ifor 510 with a 17.2 and he hated going in front ways and always seem to swing and lean on the ramp when travelling. I bought a second hand(1yr old) a few years ago and was the best thing I ever did!! I have "trailer vison"-also recommend this aswell-so I can see him and he never moves, just looks out the back window. They are great and light but stable to tow. It tows better than ifor I think with a fourtrak LWB. Never had any problems-even hunting -parking in muddy fields, tight turns out of carparks etc.

I know my friend really likes hers but she bought it new and had lots of trouble with the roof, window leaking etc etc and the dealer she bought it from wasn't that helpful at getting it all sorted. so perhaps get it from a good dealer!

I have been thinking about this as well as it seems a good middle ground, but the thing that worried me was the bar is not quick release. I spoke to the woman on the equitrek stand at Badminton, and she said they were in the process of changing this - so might be worth finding out about that if you are buying new?

i had the show trekka L and now have the star trekka. they are great trailers. they tow like a dream and the horses have a great hjourney. never had a problem with the breast bar. not had any problems with either of them. not had any problems dealing with Tom or his team either.

Not sure where you are in Herts, but there is a dealer in Essex that hires out equitrek trailers as well as sells- something I was going to try - if you wanted to make sure before you buy. They were very helpful too.

thumbs up from me easy to tow, although the flat front makes car bit more thirsty on fuel as not aerodynamic, loading easy when doing it alone, this was a last attempt for us as my pony was getting dangerous in ifor rearing up etc but happily travels in equitrek (sleeps most of time leaning on centre partition can see on camera), i would prefer the breast bar to be quick release due to past experience when she reared and got stuck on it in the ifor but i hope as i have the M model equitrek the roof is low enough to stop this happening. Another thing is the ramp opens into the road so wouldnt be ideal if needed to get them out quickly into traffic

i like the concept of mine and horses travel well but can't receommend them in terms of build quality i'm afraid

i must have been really unlucky but i've had all sorts go wrong and found equitrek very obstructive to deal with in my experience. had lots of minor breakages - some of which they fixed but they never sorted out the fact that my leisure battery hook up doesn't work and so the water tank i paid extra for doesn't work. i also had an axle snap on me when i was driving along loaded and in this respect equitrek were very rude- blaming me for driving recklessly and not answering my calls. they even put the phone down on me once!

i had to threaten them with court action via a solicitors letter to get an accident report out of them- concluded faulty axle which i accept there will always be faults with things but i found the customer service thoroughly unpleasant so i'd recommend finding a good dealer...
