i was going to buy a lorry, but now after hearing about the running costs involved, now thinking of an show equi-trek.
currently have a perfect bateson but want somewhere to put tack and make a cuppa! would love the star trekka but v. expensive! what do you lot think?

I personally think the space trekka has more usable space, as in the show trekka the bench takes up most of the room, however if you want to use a kettle then the show trekka would be the one for you!

Welcome 21again. I love the equitrek trailers, sadly don't have one though.
21again - I wish!!

I would love one too, finally saved the money but my damn horse wont go in one!!! How different in a horses point of view can they really be to a lorry

as he will go in a lorry no problem but has turned his nose up at all trailers!! He loads, just wont stay in.
Probably worrying about nothing and it was something I hadnt gave much thought to before reading it on here but if it did go over on its side, how do you get your horse out?

Sorry dont want to put you off but I hadnt thought of it either.
I was a bit miffed with Equitrek as before we tried one I emailed Equitrek as I know of one that did go over and asked about the stability and putting one horse in without the partition so he could stand as heringbone as possible, I mentioned that I knew of one going over and they didnt even reply.
Luckily a friend let me try hers before I bought one and I found he wouldnt go in, he walked up the ramp and shot out backwards whacking his head on the lip of the roof which then put him off and my friend too.

Cant blame her really it was a new trailer.

any trailer/lorry can go over. and by then you are pretty stuffed no matter where the ramp is. generally trailers/lorrys go over because of speed/high winds/dangerous driving/towing with unsuitable vehicles etc...

I've got a Show trekka, had it for nearly 2yrs and love it. All my horses load into it perfectly and travel without a fuss. Its great not having to buy cups of tea at shows at vast expense! Have slept in it heaps too. Plenty of room for all your junk (It doesnt make you any neater though!), and at lest you know the essential are always there - no more forgetting your leather boots/jacket.....Totally recommend one to anyone

i got rid of my Show Trekka and have just got the new Star Trekka. I love the Equi Treks and Ive had nothing but great service for Tom and the guys at Equitrek so I am very surpised about the comments that ive read about him not getting back to people. The only reason I upgraded was because I needed more storeage for when I go away competing, but like Britestar says, theres room for boots, hat etc to live in there permanently so you never forget them.
My horses love travelling in it aswell. Like Louby, I too had a horse that wouldnt load/bad traveller, however we have over come this and she now runs into the Equitrek.
Equitrek do loan the trailers out for you to try before you buy, saves a lot of money if you dont actually like them in the flesh.
