Hi, I'm looking at getting my first Equidry. I've decided on the thick fleece with the attached hood, and I've noticed that I can get it in two models, the original an evolution. What's the difference and is it worth the upgrade to the evolution? Also what colours do you guys recommend? Any help is appreciated.

The thick fleece in any Equidry is VERY thick and warm. Too warm for anything more than light pottering about in, but perfect for spectating in winter. Even the thinner fleece lite version is warm, too warm for riding in or dog walking.

The newer Equidrys have a drawstring waist which makes them much less tent like, do go for one with the drawstring waist.

I have a couple of originals but am eyeing up an evolution. The originals do the job brilliantly, they’ll keep you warm and cosy and the fixed lined hood is great the stowaway just that. It depends what you want it for maybe a little warm for lots of mucking out but if you want to be warm and dry they’re great and the quality is better than most of the competitors. The evolution has poppers to fasten as well as a zip, the original originals don’t have them afaik. Mine just have zips.

I have a year-old Evolution Pro and the latest Equimac. In addition to the drawstring TP mentions, the Evolution also has 'skirts' in the zip openings at the sides, which the original didn't have, so it will keep you drier. I'm not sure if they've changed the Evolution Pro since I bought mine, but the mac is an improvement on the one I have. The main better thing about the mac is that the hood now actually fits over your hat, where it doesn't in previous versions; as I say, I'm not sure if they've updated the Evolution Pro design since I bought mine (which they may well have done), but the hood doesn't fit over my hat on my year-old one. If you're only going to buy one, you'd be better off with the Evolution, as you can easily layer up underneath it, but unless you really feel the cold, you'll be much more limited as to when you can wear it if you go for the original thick-fleece version. I can only semi-comfortably wear my Evolution from about 8 degrees and under (though I do wear a body protector). TBH, knowing what I know now, if I were only going to buy one, I think I'd go for the Equimac as it's wearable for much more of the year. However, if you are going for warmth, the Evolution Pro should be fine.

That sounds good, having skirts in the evolution, I really wish mine had them , it's hard to keep dry legs riding in bad weather.
I have 2. I use the thick one for spectating and stewarding, and sometimes at home as a blanket. The lighter fleece I find good for riding ,I only have a t-shirt on with it unless it's really cold.

Okay, maybe I will go for the thin one!

i have no complaints about my original lite, id love the thicker one but would still probably go for the original one.

if you’re only getting one i would suggest the lite though! i hack out in mine in rain and wind and ur still keeps me toasty! i’m only wanting the warmer one for light pottering about like when i’m just feeding/bringing in etc
