After getting soaked through today I am thinking of getting an equidry shortie. How warm is the fleece one? Is the mesh one still really waterproof? Many thanks

Not equidry but I have the Reincoat lite with a mesh lining. It has not let me down yet even in torrential rain. I prefer it as can layer or not underneath.

With the shortie the rain will just drip off onto your legs. The reincoat lite is very easy to wear and non restrictive and covers well.

I have both the long equidry, a reincoat and the equidry shortie. I find my reincoat too warm! It’s great for standing around watching when my daughter is riding but when I’m doing yard jobs I just get too hot and have to take it off. My shortie and equicoat are both the thinner fleece lined ones and they are fabulous. Just the right amount of warmth. I have been in the shortie today doing all my yard jobs so my legs are freer, I find it easier to walk around in the shortie. But I ride in the equicoat all the time. It’s been 0 degrees here today and I have been lovely and warm in jeans, shortie, and t shirt and a jumper under the shortie.

Rode in my trusty riding skirt today. So nice keeps me dry along with Jack Murphy long coat. Ancient but still just right for this weather.

They are all just 20,000 waterproof at a push? I bought a dare2b recently which was 30,000 waterproof on @ester links she provided and I really like it for riding in. So far it has stood up to everything and a bargain price as less than £50. Get exceeds any of the horse coats I have.

I do seem to have a collection of Equidrys 🤣.

IMHO the Shorties look hideous and I wouldn’t have one. I want my arse and my upper thighs to be dry.

Of the long coats, if you are just to have just one, go for the mesh lined Equimac for year round use and layer up and down underneath it as necessary. It’s plenty enough protection most of the time. The fleece lined ones are simply too warm if you’re doing anything active.

Having said that, my trusty Equidry evolution fleece lined lite is now in use in the current freezing snowy conditions. I am having to mince slowly round the yard and field trying not to slip, and it is keeping me warm - it’s brilliant for this.

I love the long length to keep my jodhs dry and clean underneath as I heave wet and muddy turnout rugs on and off.

The mesh lining also means that it’s quicker and easier to wash and drip dry. I put mine through a 20° wash without detergent to freshen it up without having to reproof it. Comes out sparkling.
