Equifest Equivalent?

Unfortunately,I cannot attend Equifest 2014 as I had planned to and, therefore, am considering an 'equifest equivalent' to take my horse to before HOYS. Although it will not be the horses first time competing there, he was quite unsettled when he last went due to the immense atmosphere, so I am quite unwilling to let him go there before first competing at a show with a similar vibe.

If anyone knows of an indoor show similar to equifest (as I had planned to take him there as the presentation of the class is in the evening performance), I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Thank you. :):):)

Depending on where you are in the country, the North West Championships held at Croft Top in October have a great atmosphere and evening performances.
Though obviously it depends if you can get to it before HOYS as they are very close together (NWC is held on every weekend in Oct with different classes on different days). Not sure where else to suggest, as Equifest and NWC's are the biggest indoor evening atmosphere's I've experienced.

Good luck for HOYS!

Thank you AlexHyde, but unfortunately, we live in the west midlands (around Worcestershire) so I don't think I could do it - much appreciated though :)

Never been so don't know but what about Royal London? Think it was at Olney last year so right area for you. Not sure what they do by way of evening performances.

This was going to be my suggestion as they have evening performances

unfortunately i doubt the evening performances at royal london would be much of a preparation for hoys. quick trot in, line up and rosettes given out. there is some quiet music playing and a few dim lights but the atmosphere is nothing in comparison to hoys or equifest. there is no real seating area around the arena and your lucky to have 20/30 people in there watching. lovely place for a youngsters first evening performance but not somewhere thats going to give you a true hoys prep like equifest would.

what about the british elite ? also some of the show centres do pre hoys shows (not sure if there are arab classes though) but some have evening performances so maybe keep an eye out for those ?

Ah that's a shame as I know a few people use it as a practice run before the big day.
Were you at HOYS last year in the ridden Arabs? If so I would have seen you there as we watched them, they are such beautiful animals!

Thank you whiteflower, I have had a good look at the royal london venue and I do agree, it does look a little quiet compared to HOYS and equifest. I will definitely keep an eye out for HOYS prep. shows though, even though ridden arabian classes are not very popular due to the very few who make it a joke....

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, it has certainly given me a lot to think about :)

No, this boy was last there in 2010, and although he is yet to collect his ticket (which I only just realised I didn't make clear :/ ), we are hoping for him to make a return trip to maybe even improve on his 4th ;)
I completely agree that arabians are such beautiful creatures, and so much smarter than most give them credit for. :)

Was about to congratulate you on getting such an early ticket but just read your last post - so will wish you good luck in qualifying instead!!
Do the BSPS summer champs have Arab classes? If so I'd give that a go as more atmosphere there or PUK maybe? Good luck!

Yes, they do have a ticket at BSPS but not at PUK but BSPS hide the class away in a remote ring and the champion isn't eligible for anything in the main ring or evening performance :( As he's quite workmanlike and hairy, I suppose I could say he's just an oversized welsh pony ;)
