Anyone knowledgable about entries etc....could someone take a little browse over the timetable and see what classes baby coblet is elidgable for [there are so many in hand trad classes!] and which ones you need to qualify for?

Never personally sorted actual entries out in my life, just been groom, and just so many classes not sure which ones to aim for!

Hmm dont know about coblet classes, I have a PBA/Hack :D.
But love this show! The only classes which you have to qualify for are the ones which say Equifest before them i think from memory? Where is the schedule is it out yet?
All the other classes are open to all, and generally have options for restricted/novice/amature/open depending on the horse and rider levels. The choice is mind blowing!!!!!! I try to pick classes so that they dont clash and I have a couple a day to do, and if I quailfy for any work around them :).
Sorry I've not been really very helpful have I? To be honest you'll have a great time whatever the class :D.

Aha found the timetable!
Yes so the ones that have EQUIFEST before the class name are the ones you can qualify for.
The rest really depends on you ;).

HOME PRODUCED CLASSES – These classes are open to horses and ponies that have been stabled at home (without any paid assistance) or kept at livery on a DIY basis since 1st January 2012. Horses / ponies must not have been shown or trained by a professional Producer or kept at full livery at any time during this period (except for service in the case of Brood Mares). To be owned/kept, produced, ridden/handled by a person who does not derive their main income from working with horses/ponies. It is anticipated that exhibitors will enter in the true spirit of this competition.

RESTRICTED CLASSES – These classes are open to HORSES, PONIES AND RIDERS that have not qualified for the Royal International Horse Show, the Horse of the Year or Olympia in 2011 or 2012 before the date of Equifest. This includes horses, ponies and riders that have qualified for Search For A Star in 2011 or 2012.

NOVICE CLASSES – These classes are open to horses and ponies that have not won a first prize at any affiliated Show in an open classification on or before the 1st January in the current year.

AMATEUR CLASSES – These classes are restricted to exhibitors who do not:
a) Engage in breeding, livery, buying, selling or dealing in a commercial capacity.
b) Receive remuneration for employment in the connection with horses in racing, showing, livery or riding school.
c) Show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm.
d) On the day when an exhibit is competing in an Amateur class, Professionals are not allowed to ride or work in the relevant animal. No Professional Producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the horse.

Open Classes are open to all with no restrictions. Not sure if this helps a little more...

Haha well you've certainly picked about the most complicated show to start with :D.
I find if you note all the classes you want/can do and their times, and then look at what will clash and then you can plan the days better.
For example on the friday there are 6 classes I could do and none clash , but as she is 20 this year we wont be doing that many in one day as she would kill me :D. However on the Saturday there are only four that I'm looking at, but two clash :(. So it really does help (well me anyway) to write them all down, as there is nothing worse than running round on the day and all your classes being at the same time!
Also as a side note if you are fancying doing the pairs/training/Concours classes then be really prompt with your entries, as these classes are now capped due to popularity and huge numbers of entries!
If in doubt email Betsy she is lovely and very patient .

Thanks, I've normally gone before with works horses etc...just actual entries are a mine field to me lol!

We'll only be looking at inhand classes as he's only a baby :)

Thankyou! Me and baby coblet may see you there hopefully :D

Ah you must be fitter than me then, I tired inhand once and nearly had a heart attack with all the running round!!! Seriously I dont know how you do it!
But for a baby I think it's the best education to go out and see the world.
ooo yes I hope to see you there, we didn't get there last year as we had arthritis problems all year:(, but fingers crossed we have high hopes for this year :D.

Haha thankyou!

He got his mane and tail all chewed out 2 winters ago, so didn't take him out as he didn't look right. Decided to give it a bash this year if he's looking alright, asno time like the present!

Currently take him out jogging for 30-40 mins round the town each day so I don't mind! I keep fit, and he keeps quiet and gets bombproof, win win haha!

I'm always struggling with Doodle, she just doesn't grow hair!
I've even had to pull sections of her mane create 'false' plaits with the pulled bit and sew them in! But even then it must be easier to do some, erm, covering up :D on something that is plaited I suppose there is no getting round a hairless traditional :D.
Wow that is serious dedication for you, 30-40mins jogging I think my legs would fall off! I am currently back on the lose weight bandwagon so you never know, I could come over all lean and fit and join in the in-hand madness , there is some time before August ;).
Still I much prefer the sitting on them and poncing about as my dad calls it, don't think he will ever understand the point of showing ...

Oh dear!!!

Yeah I found him one morning like this...
