Hello, I'm looking at buying the Equifit Belly Band and just wondered if anyone used them/had any feed back? I'm sure they will help with regards to rubs etc but am interested to know if anyone has had any problems with how they fit? My biggest concern is that it may rub or cause pressure behind the wither? Any info would be much appreciated.

It's not to prevent spur marks, he actually gets rubs from my boot and I figured this may help, although knowing him the band will probably rub him!

my dad uses one on his thin-skinned horse as the side of his boot tends to rub one of t's sides - he broke his hip a few years back and it was set at a slightly different angle to where it was naturally when it was plated, hence the rubbing.

the band itself has never caused any marks or rubs on either of his horses. hope that helps...

I used to work for a show jumper who used one on one of his horses. This gelding had sensitive skin like you would believe (he also had sweet itch in the summer) and it did help to prevent rub marks when he was fully clipped out.

OH used to use a large towelling sheet. He did not wear spurs, but at coat change time (and only then) the poor horse could rub raw with just the seam of his boot.

I dare say he could have improved his leg position, and goodness knows he spent time without stirrups to try, but as a mature 40's novice ex rugby prop forward was not going to be perfect immediately.

If the Eqifit had been available at the time he would probably have tried it, as he cared very much for the horse and would have done anything to keep him comfortable. He would not compete him at coat change time, as he could not bear to ride without the towel in case he hurt the horse.

I have used one on Pie - he got marked when I first started using spurs - which coincided with his first full clip. He's a sensitive boy prone to rubs. It stopped any further damage and allowed the hair to grow back. I haven't needed to use it in over a year as he hasn't marked since then but I always have it in the lorry just in case. I found that he got quite sweaty under it but the band itself didn't cause any real problems.
Also just to mention apparently they are allowed for BS. I checked with the judge when we were jumping at Broomies and they said it was fine.

Thank you, yes I've seen them at BS quite a bit, he certainly won't need it all the time only at change of coat and fresh clip time, I was just worried it may stop one thing and cause another!! Thanks again.
