Equiflex - Opinions and a Question

I just wanted to know what people's opinions were of vetvits Equiflex?

Also, as it doesn't contain msm to you feed their msm supplement as well or not?

I am only using it as a preventative, but I want to know I'm feeding him something worthwhile and not wasting my money.

Brilliant. Used it on horses of my own and recommended to clients. Had some fantastic results with it.

I have never fed in with MSN on top
 
feed it alone and originally fed it like you as a preventative, absolutely nothing wrong with my young lovely moving WB However he does move even better now so I will continue to use it:D
 
I first tried the glucossamine and msn supplements with no effect. Then the equine answers premierflex ha plus, with no effect. I then put my arthritic dog on some glucossamine and chondroitin tabs and she picked up very nicely. Went from nearly having to pts to a new lease of life with only occassional pain relief. So thought i'd put my arthritic mare on the same combination. Vet vits was one of the few that did just these two components and was also about the cheapest about. Plus had the highest levels of the components. 12 weeks of feeding the loading dose and my mare showed so much improvement I got the vet back out, who was also astounded at the improvement. Needless to say on this product my mare is now coming back into full work, after nearly being written off 15 months ago due to arthritic changes and collateral ligament damage!! She's now 16 and were looking forward to possibly just maybe getting back into the show and dressage ring next year, if she can keep improving the way she has been. (lets hope hey!!)

I asked my vet about the theory that the chondrotin molecule is too large to pass across the stomach wall. She said the jury's out on that one, there isn't enough proof either way. Yet there's more study to show chondroitin has a positive impact than there is on msn! She said the fact you've got good results shows something is working, so I will be keeping my mare on this now for life! oh and I feed it alone without the msn.

My now 36yo has been on it for years, made a pretty remarkable recovery from a bad hind check ligament injury aged 32 and surgery to remove a shattered hind splint bone aged 34, possibly because the Equiflex gives him the building blocks to support his system.

Can I ask how much you feed please? I currently use cortaflex and am not convinced its helping....Equiflex works out alot cheaper (27p a day instead of 83p) at the maintenance dose but I'm not sure if that will be enough.

I feed my 15.2 tb x wb mare 1 1/2 scoops daily which is the recommended loading dose for this size horse, vetvits have said that after 6 weeks I could drop her to the maintenance dose of 1 scoop daily, but have seen so much improvement on the 1 1/2 that I don't want to alter anything!!! I checked with my vet and they were happy with this doseage, so that's were I'm staying at for now, it makes it slightly less cost effective, 1 tub every 6 weeks approx as opposed to every 8 weeks, but the fact it works I don't care about that!!
