Equihaler or aeromask?

Hi,
I have the Flexineb for my RAO mare & it has been a godsend! Since the 1st day I used it her cough stopped, whereas oral meds hadn't touched her. So I was able to ride her again (she has other problems aside from the RAO, but with this under control, the others are easier to manage).
At the moment I use the wet nebuliser part & she has ventipulmin, steroids and antibiotics, but you can also use other remedies & inhalers.
It is very expensive at £700, but I was very lucky that my insurance have paid for it, but even if they hadn't it has been worth every penny! You can buy it without the wet nebuliser which makes it cheaper.
From what I have heard the Equihaler is useless as you have to have a very patient horse that will allow you to hold the inhaler over 1 nostril while you cover the other nostril with another hand & then somehow with a third hand puff the inhaler in! I have no personal experience of the aeromask, but there are definitely threads on here as I read them when researching the Flexineb.
 
Your welcome :) The massive advantage I have found with the Flexineb is that I can just run saline thought the wet nebuliser which helps to break down any mucus without any drugs. I have also run it with a drop of menthol which has definitely helped. I am only using the drugs still as I'm still on insurance, but have been experimenting with alternatives as I don't want her on them long term as she's only 7.

I had the equihaler for my mare, it really made a difference and i had no problem using it on my head shy mare, once my mare got used to it she actually quite liked it, infact think she knew it helped.

i used a ventilin inhaler and a steroid inhaler, i was lucky as my partner is a mild asthmatic and gets free percriptions ( he has epeilepsy) so i got the ventilin inhaler free (vets idea lol) but had to buy the steroid one from the vets.

Sadly i lost my mare last year but found that the inhaler really helped her and i was able to ride her more whilst using it x

Hi i didnt have any probs, just used to make sure i held it over her nostril for at least 4-5 breaths to ensure she took in all the medicine from the chamber, she was pretty good so i was able to make sure it fitted over her nostril with no gaps and stayed there till she had took it all in.

It made a massive difference to her breathing, she used to have 5 puffs of each inhaler morning and night and two extra of the ventilin one if i rode her and it worked wonders :)
