My Mare is on nearly 4gk of Growth Equilibrium per day and ad lib haylage. She is a poor doer and has recent,ly started some intense schooling after being off for a while with vrious lameness problems. Will she continue to be difficult to keep weight on as a result of burning calories and if so should I add something else or will the extra muscle definition make up for it?

What sort of exercise are you doing?
Ideally you want to do lots of hand walking up and down hills, this wont burn too much fat but will build up muscle.
You cant feed much more than 4kg a day but you could add in a high fat pellet such as milk pellets or an oil based supplement...

You should check with the helpline - i've found them very helpful, but i think, basing her weight on 500kg, you could go up to 4.5-5kg per day, if she is in hard work. I think i'm right in saying that you can leave her with the feed overnight for her to pick and nibble at because its so fibrey, the helpline have said that to me before. But as i say, give the helpline a ring, it would be a shame to change your feeding regime if you have had success with it so far. i love Equilibrium! Cant speak highly enough of it!
