I have an Equilirium pad which I have bought second hand from a friend. Its in excellent condition, she's only had it 18 months but lost her horse so wanted to sell it. I bought it off her for a very reasonable price but right away noticed problems with the panel on the pad not coming on despite the lead being plugged in to the battery pack inside the pocket of the pad. Sometimes it comes on but straight away goes out again.

I assumed the battery was flat so recharged the battery even though she said she had charged it prior to her selling it me and I'd used it once and it had worked although seemed to switch off very fast (within 10 mins).

I have noticed that the battery pack won't charge, the little red light that indicates its charging keeps going out anywhere after a few seconds to a few minutes. As it has to have the charger plug which is an equilibrium product in order to charge it I am a bit loathe to try another plug (its a sealed plug unit and sealed battery pack). I assume its the battery pack that's faulty although of course it could be the charger itself. I've tried wobbling the wires (not very technical I know) but it doesn't make any difference so its not a loose connection.

Has anyone else had a problem with this please? I feel a bit bad about asking her as she has really taken care of the massage pad, you can tell that by how clean and how little wear there is. I might try and contact Equilibrium if I can find others that have had problems with their chargers/battery packs.

When I bought mine a few years ago the battery had a loose connection to the pad and the charger and wouldn't always charge. Can't remember if my mum (it had been a xmas present) contacted the retailer or Equilibrium direct but they sent a new battery out which hasn't been a problem since.

Only trouble you might find is they updated them a while ago and the new/old model battery systems aren't compatible.

Worth an email to Equilibrium!

We have 4 of these pads at work and not one single one of them works! It's not the batteries or charger -we got new ones. It's the pads themselves that stopped working. And no one will repair them and Equilibrium won't take them back/check them over.

Oh no please don't say that, I've just won one on eBay!

You can buy new chargers and batteries for the equilibrium massge pads. Is yours one of the newer grey pads, 2016 onwards? Even if it's the old black one, the new batteries will work in them but you will need a new charger for it, as said above the old batteries are not compatible with the new charger. FWIW, I have a fairly elderly black massage pad still working well with its new battery/charger. :).

ETA And I have a newer grey one which also works well, but I nearly turned my horse out in this morning (I had put it on under her turnout rug). That wouldn't have lasted if she'd rolled in it, would it ?

I've got an old black one that I've had for about 8 years.I don't use it that often but it's still going strong...a mouse has nibbled a little hole in the top though! 😮

Not sure it was an Equilibrium, but a few years ago I found a pal a new battery for a massage rug for WAY WAY less than the makers charged.

Google battery specialists and ask for advice. If you take out the old battery it will have a serial number and they should be able to cross-reference it.

What I would say is they can be surprisingly hard to connect. Much the best idea is to take it into a local TV or electrical repair shop and ask them to fit it for you.

Still, I think we saved about £80!!!
