Equilibrium Massage Pad/Mitt - Reviews?

We have a couple of the pads at the yard and to be honest I don't rate them in the slightest. realistically what can a tiny pad that isn't contoured to your horse do to half a tonne of muscle when all it does is buzz. I have put it on the highest setting on my arm and barely felt a thing. Not worth the money imo.

Thanks for the feed back! I am considering getting one (especially as they are so much cheaper than the Equissage, which I just can't justify) - but would like to know from people that have used them, before parting with my cash. It's interesting to hear you've not noticed a difference.

I asked my equine physio about them as I was considering buying one. She said you'd be better off putting a not too hot hot-water bottle in your horse's back for 10 minutes before riding.

That's interesting and far cheaper!

Two Stupid questions:

*Do you literally stand there holding a hot water bottle or do you attach it to something?

*Where abouts do you put the hot water bottle - where the saddle would go?

I don't own one but have borrowed from a friend.

It does do a very good job of warming the back. Not sure if it actually massages, though. When you place your hand on top when it's on you can feel it vibrating. But whether this actually does anything to the muscles directly is another story.

B did seem to enjoy the experience and he looked awfully drowsy afterwards! So I think the vibrations and the warming effect can certainly help to relax the horse (therefore reducing tension in the back muscles as a consequence), not necessarily offer an actual massage. Do I think it's worth the money? Probably not.

No idea I'm afraid! It seemed so impractical that I didn't bother to ask for details. And luckily my mare's back was quite good so it isn't an issue at the moment.

We've had a massage pad for several years & find it works well on our horses. We normally put it on our horses before they go to warm up at a competition. We use them similarly on the yards. They seem to work for us,horses relax with them on. I haven't found a down side yet, apart from the vinyl it's made of has started to wear a little but the pad is still working. If ours broke down tomorrow I'd buy another.

You can read as many reviews as you want, only way to truly find out about them is to ewither buy or borrow one. ;)
