for those that compete and use the equilibrium massage pad

When do you get the best results do you think befoire or after riding? and do you change this depending on the disapline (i.e before dressage after jumping)


How many times a week do you use it / or only when you ride?

what setting do you use?

I use mine everytime before I ride or lunge. It's great. Only thing is you have to get to a show with enough time to put it on.
 
I use mine before I ride, whatever I am planning on doing. If I'm there on his days off I will put it on him then too. He has it on the highest setting, but then he does have a sway back and I feel he benefits the most from this.
I put mine on in the trailer on the way to shows, that way you aren't hanging around for an age when you get there.
 
Mine gets used every day. When I was looking into purchasing one - I found a study that found that the best way to use was for 15mins before exercise on medium to warm up the muscles, 15mins after on low to cool down the muscles, then for 1/2 hr on "days off" on medium or high setting. I do this every day - much easier, as he has pad on whilst I boot up, get tack etc, and have seen a significant improvement.
If competing/going training, he travels with the pad on (but not switched on) then has it switched on for 15 mins before getting on, again whilst I am getting ready, etc. Timing works out really well!
 
Usually use mine afterwards for the full 30 minutes on the high setting as my boy does have problems that I find have been greatly improved with this and 3 monthly physiotherapy sessions. Do sometimes put on for 15 mins before and 15 after if I know I'm doing a lot of work like having a lesson but for general hacking etc. I most often use the 30 mins as one go and he seems to really get good benefit, and enjoy it !

Moodymare - out of curiosity, why do you use yours after exercise, I thought one of the main points was that it relaxed muscles to improve work - therefore use before exercise?
 
I use for 30 mins on highest setting before ridden work in the arena (ie not for hacking or lunging). If Venue is close he has it on whilst I am getting changed before loading, if venue some distance he wears it as we travel or whilst I am booking in at venue. Not sure if he really benefits, laid back horse with no issues
