For those of you who have used Equine 74 Gastric how long did you take to see a difference? His lifestyle and feed regimes are already optimised for good gut health. Thanks.

Repetitive gas colic episodes. She is now on daily x 2 sulcrafate and change of diet to forage adlib at 40% clean barley or oat straw and 60% meadow hay.

I’ve no experience of this but if you’re struggling I’d recommend phoning Debbie at Equine Exceed for a chat. Their gastric pro has been life changing (and possibly saving) for my horse.

I used Equine 74 Gastric on vet advice for Lottie when vet felt she had ulcers relating to pain from her SI injury. Vet did not want to scope but just address the underlying pain, manage as if for ulcers and feed supplement and see how she went. We started that in Oct 2021.

She looked much better and less reactive within 2 weeks.

After 2-3 months I let it run out and she became more reactive in days and picked up again when it was added back in and kept her on it then for many months.

When Spring grass kicked in Spring 22, she dropped weight and was very sensitive over caecum on right side and vet felt hind gut acidosis. So we added in Equishure to the Gastric 74 and she regained weight and settled down very quickly. We also got her off spring grass and she is in during the day through spring/summer. Out at night.

I let it all run out again, last autumn and just started using Protexin after the season ended 2022 and she was fine on just Protexin all winter, which is much cheaper. No reaction to Spring grass this time though we got her off it early. Then the Protexin ran out recently so I stopped that and she was again reactive quite quickly. So she is back on it again.

They all seem to help and she seems to need something but what that something is does not seem to matter much. So I guess they all work in similar ways?

She is looking and feeing fantastic now.
