Has anyone tried it on their horse, and did it make a difference. Any recommendations. My mare Darcy has a history of KS,PSD bilateral hinds,SI issues and hock arthritis. Also has PPID so trying to stay away from steroids if we can as she did have LGL at diagnosis. She has regular physio but thought it may be helpful as an added extra boost to keep her comfortable as possible. I have Accupunture for lower back / sciatic pain and find it amazing for pain relief so may as well it a go on Darcy X
 
I can't help with recommendations, as we are too far away but ye, we have had acupuncture on 2 different horses, one had back muscle problems and the other had an issue with her poll which was also causing a problem with her shoulder. Both were successful. The 2nd mare had a further issue when a saddle didn't fit well and again acupuncture helped.
 
I know it has to be a vet , I have consent from my vet to go ahead with treatment if I can find someone . Just wanted to see if anyone had tried it and who came recommended as the ones on the actual AVBA lists are people who deal with mostly small animals( I have contacted most in my area to find this out) and due to her history want an actual equine vet who does Accupunture as well . So thought some on here might possibly have experience of someone. It's not proving an easy task getting a response from a few would be nice :( X
 
Yes, one of my horses has regular acupuncture, and that along with regular massage really keeps her soft and supple.

Just ask around your local Vets, I am sure one of them has someone trained in it as it is popular with small animals. Funnily enough my Vet has only treated dogs before, so my mare was the first horse that he has treated - he did say he had treated a bull a couple of times!

My problem with is Darcy is somewhat " mareish" and someone not used to 1/2 ton of stroppy, Narky wench may not be confident enough to tackle her !! They would also have to distinguish arsey from reaction X

My mare is a Rottweiller with anyone but me in her stable, notoriously difficult to inject. But I hold her nose while the needles get put in and then she goes off to sleep :)

Tbh any Vet used to dealing with large animals will be fine.
