Hi everyone. I'm thinking of putting my horse on this during the summer months, as he is getting fed very little feed (allen and page) so isn't getting the recommended amount. I'm worried he's not getting all the required vitamins and minerals.
Anyone use this?
And also, would you take the horse off the balancer in the winter when he will be fed plenty of food to keep his weight on, therefore having a fully balanced diet (according to allen and page website)?
Thanks

Not currently but I have done and they ate it ok. Good hooves, skin while on it.

Will you be feeding the RDA of the Allen & Page? I've always struggled to feed enough of their stuff - but I have natives who live on thin air!

Not currently no, with the good grass, and being out of work, my tb is holding his weight well with just a little bit and a&p care and gain. However in the winter, yes he is fed the rda for moderate to hard work, even if he is only in light work, which is about 3kg, as he's a tb, he's quite a poor doer in the winter. But in the summer with lush grass and a bit of food, and not being worked (ulcers, kissing spine, arthritis and something with his Suspensory ligaments (can't quite remember what it was alot to take in)) he's weight is fine. We are doing groundwork, but Its not proper work for him to need energy for. However we are obviously hoping with treatment and rehab that he will return to work in the future.

Do you feed anything else alongside it?
Yes, Calm and Condition and Alfa A plus salt, oil and a joint supplement plus a good quality haylage. 365 comes as a powder so would need to be fed with something else. I don't have the horses now but at the time this worked well for both. They were in at night all year round and both doing a full season eventing, one at BE100 and the other at Int/3*.

Thanks, so would be okay to feed alongside my care and gain then?

I feed both of mine EA 365 all year round and they both look great on it. One has unmolassed chaff, high fibre cubes and the other has alfalfa and high fibre cubes. Both have grass during day turnout, hay at night.

I buy the big tub as it works out much better value.

We have fed this for a good 6 months now, replaced the top spec lite balancer with it, as suspected that was making horse fizzy.
We were feeding with fast fibre, alfa-a and some linseed oil. Have just swapped the fast fibre to the new muscle & focus (so far - fab).

Overall really pleased, horse looks good, nice coat, healthy hooves (barefoot) and goes well.

Do you feed the recommended amount of muscle and focus?
I know its a fully balanced feed, and I was worried about feeding the balancer on top of it.
