Hello Everyone , I was wondering what peoples opinion was on transporting horses to overseas Olympic Games ? I was also intrested to know everyones opinion on the care these horses get when they are at the Games ?

Would be great to hear everyones views on this matter as I am doing some research for College

Thanks

I would have thought that you would need to interview grooms etc to get an informed opinion - the rest of us on here could only give an opinion on transporting horses overseas in general - not necessarily for Olympic games.

If you have no knowledge what so ever on the subject than you cant comment but that would go for any post on the forum.

I was just wondering about the genral opinion on the subject e.g. do you think horses should be taken abroad to compete under extreme climate condidtions

however if you have no knowledge on the subject , I would suggest this was not the correct post for you to be writing on :/

I have no personal experience but I would say from what I understand the horses are not just placed in extreme climates and expected to 'deal' with it, when the GB endurance team went out to Dubai, there was a woman from the south west who did everything to acclimatise her horse before it even got there, this included: riding it in a rug to get it used to the increase in temperature for weeks prior to travelling, the horses are also travelled well in advance so they have substantial time to be worked in the climate and get used to the change prior to competing, in addition the facilities onsite are geared to help the horses to be able to deal with the climate with the least amount of discomfort, for example the cold spray facilities that they had at the Australia to cool a horse down post competing. These horses are talented and an asset, it is in the interest of all involved that preparations are made and needs catered for to the highest of standards, that being said there probably is room for improvement, I couldn't tell you where or what that is, but we should always strive to improve.
