I need a new direction in my life, something challenging but rewarding.

I currently work in an office as a supervisor to a team of engineers and whilst I’m good at what I do its totally draining me and I feel no reward/gain, and by that I mean I don’t feel like I’m doing something worthwhile / making a real difference. I have no plan to leave this job at present but would like to look at the possibility of one day having a career in the equine industry. I know its tough out there, the hours are long and the money not so high, but I would much rather have the feeling of job satisfaction that I’ve made a positive difference to an equine/human life. I’m happy to start at the bottom to learn a new skill and I would happily go on courses / train in my spare time. I understand this may mean it will take some time to get where I want to but it’s the only feasible way I’m going to be able to do it.

So first things first I was wondering if you lovely people would help me look at the options out there, I’ve put together a few basics, please help add to this list:

Groom / Rider
Instructor – BHS, Classical, EE etc …
Saddle fitter
Equine nutrition
Equine dentistry
Equine therapy – there are loads that would come under this category, so please feel free to list, such as Bowen, McTimoney, Sports massage etc …

Any recommendations on courses, any of your experiences, advice etc greatly appreciated.
