My recent horrid experience with a horse which was certainly injured maliciously has left me wondering if the Police really do not prioritse equine (or animal) crime highly.
It could be posed as criminal damage - eg. initially decent Sj horse, worth 15K, injured and maybe recover as light hack worth £500, surely the loss incurred by insurers is worth a bit more concern that ' we'll never know...' That is just an example but I have spoken with owners who have lost a lot more and the response has been rather on the side of 'prove it or prove you have not contributed to the loss'. Jolly unfair as this does not seem to apply in other areas. Family we know were sadly burgled, victim support counselled them, kept in touch and generally showed some care, insurance paid 500% of actual loss value.... how many horse owners can say that!
Have a grump on anyway as reported to local Police that n'er do well group were wandering about shooting randomly from public highways - Police say 'coundn't find them'... we could have followed them on donkeys!
Time for a Chardonnnaaaay.................
