Equine Dental Records... ever had one?

Just a little nosey post as I had the dentist out last week for Mr D and for the little monkey as well... Monkey was done because the dentist was there and was happy to have a look at him for a general check. I don't know if it is 'normal' to have 16 month old youngsters looked at but I wanted to whilst he was there. Good job I did as I now know what is going on in his mouth and have a timeline for having him looked at again

Dentist was also very impressed with how monkey coped with the experience

The reason I post this is that I received a dental record for both horses through the post today and this is something i've never had with my old dentist

Have you ever had a dental record for yours? I was really impressed to get it

I always get a sheet of paper which has a chart of the horses teeth on it and what they were like and what he did to them.

When he comes back he brings his copy of it from the last visit and compares it to their teeth now.

Is that what you mean?

Yes, our one leaves you with a sheet with a full report on.

My old one would be lucky to even know their name let alone a full report!

Yeah DD, that's the one. Not had one before (brilliant dentist but he never sent me the form) the new dentist (I moved yards between visits) sent one within a week. Was just impressed and wondered if that was the norm

So that is 2 who say Yes... any more? Does that mean that most people don't get them?

you are supposed to recieve sheets - it is also a proof if insurance.

I get a diagram of the horse's mouth, marked up with what he has done, then a written report on the bottom of the sheet. I always bring it with me to appointments in case he needs to see it. Even the "cowboy" dentists I've come across at least give you a bit of paper with a short report on it. My dentist IS the bee's knees though

The dentist I use now always gives a dental record. None of the others I used ever did.

Mine did, everyone on the yard used him, maybe Sarah (_and_Murphy) still uses him. Can't for the life of me remember his name now.
