Hi all, just wondering if anyone can give me some good recommendations for EDTs that cover the Cheshire/ Derbyshire area? Ideally I want one who is also a vet, as my elderly mare almost always needs sedating for her teeth to be done properly. I have just moved from Sussex and had my gelding done before I moved, but unfortunately my elderly mare wasn't able to be done at the same time for health reasons. I used to be registered with Wright and Morten, but none of their vets appear on the BAEDT members list anymore (not even Mark or Nic, which surprised me!). Has anyone used Heather Urquhart? She seems very highly qualified!

Nic still does teeth, I'm sure.
Alan Ritchie is a local vet turned solely dentist - he does sedation etc. might be what you're after.
I use Jake Paterson but neither of mine need sedation.

Heather is brilliant and has done mine for several years! Mine need sedating so super handy that she can do this? She is very busy though but hopefully you can get an appointment ?

Sophie Knight, she’s super has a great easy laid back way with the horses that’s makes even the tricky ones relax. Really knows her stuff.

I like Jake. Chris Lee does my boy who has monkey mouth, I’ve tried getting an appt for my new one with no success as yet - why are dentists always so busy, perhaps I should have chosen a different career as they’re so in demand!!

I liked Jake when he did mine this year but is £60 his normal fee? He did 19 in the barn on the same day, I was shocked at the bill.

I’m not sure you know, I’d have guessed £50 but could well be wrong!! I’ve not used him for a while either, might have been 18m+

Yes it is. It was £50 but he has so much work on he is now Vat registered so it's jumped up 20%.
My yard use Ivan Stockdale and he's even more!

Standard horse dentistry a career grossing over £85k, who'd have thought it. I saw Ivan the other day at a friend's, it's always a shock that he and Tim were identical twins, and a temptation to talk to him as if you know him.

Jake doesn't always work alone though and he does work long hours. Plus that's his gross turnover not his net salary (I know you know this already) - actually his pre-tax income won't be that high.

I've messaged Heather, so I'll if she can fit me in. If not it looks like Mark or Nic at Wright and Morten, as unfortunately she just has to be sedated for the dentist. Otherwise Jake sounds really good!
Does anyone know if it's okay to be registered at two vets, so I can use W&M for teeth and elsewhere for general stuff? Quite a few people on my yard use W&M but they're really quite far away, so not fantastic in an emergency!

I'm registered with both W&M and Agnew Equine, and it doesn't cause any problems for me!

The problem I have with vets is that they so often routinely sedate. Do any Cheshire vets not?
