Equine Flu confirmed in Shropshire

Apparently the infected horse has been confined, but I'm not risking the fun ride this weekend on him because he's never been vaccinated for it until today and he's not protected for another 4 weeks

This is disappointing, I was hoping to go showing this weekend but may change my mind if this is nearby. My new one has only had her first jab so don't want to bring anything back with the other one.

I have a vet on the yard this morning - I'll see if he knows, he covers a lot of Shropshire.
I did ask him and he said he didn't know (as yet - he was going to ring later to find out). But he did also say it isn't that unusual, there are several cases in any one year, and vaccinating isn't 100% reliable. Most horses deal with it fine, it is really only the vulnerable that are of concern - very young and very old or immunity compromised.
