Hi there I’m a bit skeptic about these things but at the stage of willing to try anything! Has anyone successfully used homeopathy or are there any experienced practitioners that can help? My retired mare was left on her own in the dark at a previous livery yard and since then (especially on bigger yards) can get very anxious about winter bring in. She’s best if comes in first but can still get worked up at times eg if windy or if she sees someone and isn’t brought in straightaway. She can be extremely explosive to the point that some people have refused to handle her so it’s a big problem as I have to rely on others to bring her in. Unfortunately when in this mood there is no way of calming her. Magnesium has helped a little but not entirely. I’ve tried groundwork to no avail and been unable to find suitable 24/7 turnout. She is clearly panicking about being left again (that will never happen again - I was livid when it happened - but she doesn’t know that). My worry is she’ll hurt herself or someone else. Although a sensitive warmblood she’s pretty chilled out the rest of the time.

So would something like argent nit help? What dosage and when would I feed it? As I say I’m skeptical but will try anything!

I have used homeopathy on equines with some success but only for physical problems. Your mare's problem sounds quite deep seated so would probably require a full consultation to allow the practitioner to build up a full picture as homeopathic treatment is based on much more than the obvious problem. Your vet should know a fully qualified animal homeopath. You could also think about acupuncture or Reiki both of which have a pretty good record. I hope you manage to find some help for her.

Homeopathy is absolute bunkum... the premise that something is “stronger” the more dilute it is, is just, well, nuts.

Naturopathy, on the other hand...
