Equine Insurance in Ireland

Hi,

I'm currently horse-shopping (have seen many horses, and I think I may have found the one!), but when I owned horses previously it was in the UK. I'm now located in Ireland and am just wondering whether anyone else over here has any recommendations for insurance? Also what kind of price do you pay? I get the impression from initial searches that it's slightly more expensive over here than in the UK, I wonder is that because there don't seem to be as many companies?

When I lived in Kildare I must admit I didn't insure them as it was so expensive. I joined the BHS, which is more expensive in Ireland than the UK,for the liability insurance but that was it. Fortunately I never had a massive vets bill but with limited choice and high premiums I took the risk. I have been in the UK for 13/14 years now however so things may have improved!

I'm considering that as an option, I have to admit. I'm going to talk to the other owners at my prospective livery yard, of course, and see what they say too.
