Equine Insurance- when do you get yours insured?!

I would look to get any animal insured for vets fees and third party liability as soon as possible. Foals can and do get sick and injured so best have cover in place as soon as you are able I think.

If you're breeding your own I know NFU will cover the foal on the mare's policy until 30 days old, after which you have to buy it its own policy. Don't know about other insurers though.

Thats what i thought! Hense me chosing option 2!
 
I waited until my foal was 1 year old and the premiums halved. Bit of a gamble but it paid off for me luckily.
