Equine Massage Courses

Hi, has anyone done an equine massage course that would be willing to share their thoughts on the course please?

Longer-term, I would like to train as an Equine physio however the cost of that is prohibitive at the moment so I'm looking into doing a massage course in the interim. I've had a look at a few courses but there's a huge difference in the cost and length of the courses which are all described as a Level 4 Equine Massage Course.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Level 4 diploma is the entry level for working with client horses. Whereabouts are you? The practical sessions are really important so closer to home keeps the travel costs down.

I'm in the North of Scotland so the practical sessions are going to be the difficult part and require a lot of travel as I'll need to get to Inverness and use public transport from there. The practical sessions are where I'm seeing a big difference in the various courses. I've see one with 5 practical days, one with 8 days and one with 24 days and all are Level 4 courses.

I qualified with Wolds Equine and can highly recommend Olivia and her team. I travelled over 4 1/2 hrs each way to do the practical sessions but wouldn't hesitate to do more.

Wolds is Lincs but I think TOCEs in Suffolk do some residential hands on stuff which might be easier. Could you hire a car?

I'd go for a course with as much hands on as possible. Theory is great but you really learn when you start to feel what's going on, watch trot ups etc.

Thanks, I’ll have another look at all of them and see if hiring a car might be possible. I think Wolds might be easier in terms of transport but TOCES courses have more practical sessions.

SRUC in Aberdeen? Or Oatridge? Not sure exactly what courses they hold but both are fantastic places to learn. Is there an Ember bus that does either route?

Have you looked at the equi-ed course that runs at bogenraith equestrian? To be honest, cost and time wise, you might be just as quick to fly Inverness to England and train with Olivia at Wolds Equine
