Can anyone recommend a lawyer please a friend has got a complicated problem.
It is quite likely that the person she needs to claim against will say they have no funds but a ''stand'' needs to be made.

Every time some feels the need to take a stand a lawyer books a holiday .
I think there have been threads on here in the competion section where people gave the names equine lawyers they had used .
I am pretty sure one was north eastern so it might be worth trying a search.

Very much this.
It's one thing getting a ccj against someone it's another thing entirely trying to claw the money back.
Also if it's a complex problem, it will probably mean higher legal fees if the solicitor needs to spend more time on the issue.

If the potential defendant has no money you need to seriously think about whether it is worth throwing money at a solicitor for peace of mind.

Appreciate that, but also need to stop this person continuing with current behaviour--ie rehoming horses to which she has no legal title to young and inexperienced people (inexperienced as to the legal side, not inexperienced in horsecare)

Most solicitors will give a short session of advice for free .
So your friend should be able to run the situation past one and get an idea of the situation without it costing the earth .
She then can think carefully about what's the right thing to do.
