Any one use this for their horses? What are your opinions? Is it more benefical than a physio or are they at completly different ends of the spectrum??
I am an Equine Massage Therapist and I treat a wide range of horses. From eventers through to hunters.
The main benefits of massage include:
It improves circulation and general well-being.
Relieves muscle spasm and tension achieving relaxation.
Increases range of movement and suppleness.
Removes toxins in muscles.
Reduces chance of injury.
Enhances injury recovery.
Can be both calming and stimulating.
My friend is an EBW so I get my horses done by her.
It's not as invasive as physio/chiro and they don't manipulate. I think it's good in the same way a massage helps up; eases stiff muscles and increases blood flow. Plus all the benefits listed above
I guess each therapy has it's place but I find massage is good as a general thing but would get physio/McT-C if I had a specific problem (after checking with vet
)
I notice a difference after my horses have been massaged and they seem to enjoy it.
