Does anyone have this done to their horses? I have Bodeys back checked every 3 months but thinking he might like a massage as a nice treat. What do you guys think, worth it?
Never mind the neds (they get Back, Teeth, Feet (new pretty shoes every six weeks, not to mention the pedicure), Hairdresser, Tailor) - I want a massage!
Hey Jobo
I have my mare massaged every couple of months (more should she throw another problem my way)
Can't recommend it highly enough, makes a huge difference to her way of going and results.
The yard I am on were so impressed by the difference that they now have the whole yard treated by our practioner.
She is simply fantastic, it truly is all about the horse and not making money side of things. Spends quality time discussing everything with you. Horses love it, really relaxes them. Plus your saddles are checked and she is also a qualified saddle fitter and flocker so if there are issues can sort them as well. It doesn't cost a fortune and I have found nothing but benefits from it. I very nearly had to have my mare destroyed after surgery a few years ago, (broke her leg and then spavin collapsed). After visiting (Liphook and Newmarket) they still could not get her to move forward right and use her leg. As a last chance I tried sport massage (still use same person). I have no doubt that it helped to save her life, you would never know she had those injuries and wins show jumping and novice dressage. Please PM me is you want any more info or my ladies contact details, truly worth a go I don't think you will be disappointed at all.
in the last year i have learnt alot about Equine Sports massage and would highly recommend it. Infact i am going to writtle college in september to train as an equine body worker as i feel it is a vital treatment that every horse deserves. unfortunalty alot of horse owners simply do not realise that horses do not show pain unless it is extremly severe and most of the time the horse is just told to get on with it. I would never let anyone treat my horse other than an EBW infact in alot of cases i trust their judgement more than that of a vets. The methods used are so simple yet far more affective that other treatments available to horses, plus its generally alot cheaper!!
