Has anyone had a thermal scan of their horse to diagnose any mystery lameness/behavioural issues?

If so, what for and was it worth it? I am thinking of using the lady from The Inner Picture, but any details on previous experiences would be useful.

Thanks x

There was a thread recently with some pictures - try a search (thermal imaging?). I had mine done by Claire (the Inner Picture) and it did reveal some intersting stuff such as thin soles, tight hamstrings, soreness ver his loins. Worth a go IMO, not prohibitively expensive as vet scans etc go and could give you some pointers to the problem.

got a scan done when my horse started rearing. scan didn't pick up kissing spine issue or sacroiliac injury. It picked up a problem with the jaw on one side. got a few dentists and vets out but no issue was found. I wouldn't rate it, but I would say it depends on the quality of the scanner person - i might have just got a dodgy one!

I've used it and think it's a very useful tool, especially to locate inflammation or soft tissue / muscle damage. But just like an x ray won't show you anything other than bone problems, there are things it won't show, so it's important to use it as part of the diagnostic process and not expect it to be able to rule everything either completely in or completely out. Would definitely use for trying to locate the source of pain, and it really isn't expensive in comparison to lots of other diagnostics. Some vets are dismissive, lots aren't, but in my mind that's all part of progress. It wasn't that long ago lots of vets would think you were bonkers for using a physio / chiro / osteo and thankfully we've moved on :)
