Hi, I am moving to CV7 (Corley) in the summer. Can anyone recommend a good equine practise and a good farrier?

I currently use Chine House Vets in Sileby, but they dont cover my new address.

Thanks

God you could have rented my house out (CV7) and had Chine House too, lol..

When I kept my lot in Leamington I used corner house equine but I don't know how far they come up.. I would suggest you perhaps call Weston lawns for advice as that lot have several vets and farriers..

Farriers I can advise you who not to use!!!! I'll pm you some more information once my friend has got her butt out of bed.. She's kept horses in fillongley for a few years so will be able to give you local names

Oh and I know a lot of people use Bell and Partners.. It's mixed practice but has an equine/farm practice in Leamington..

Sorry, can't edit on an iPhone

Thank you, I have looked at corner house (think they sponsor swallowfields) I will give them a call to see if they come as far as Corley.

Also - yes please, please send me info on farriers and mega especially who not to use!

Its really difficult when you have had the same trusted people for many years - moving to a new area and having to find new ones is hard so Id like to go on recommendations.

Thanks again

I wouldn't recommend Bell and Partners at all...608 is much more modern-thinking and you are less likely to end up with a lame horse...

Blacksmiths - Tim Selby is ok but expensive

Hi

I have just contacted Anthoney Charley and he is going to put me on his books. what is he like? Does he do remedial shoing? Does he have a good reputation around your area?

many thanks

Hi he has a great reputation comes highly recommended by 698 vets. Huge amount of patience. My horse went through an infuriating stage of throwing shoes, like 5 in 2 weeks!!! He was there that day or very least next day and didn't charge me once for putting them back on. And yes I do believe he does remedial shoeing.
Good luck, might see you around Corley one day x

Great, thanks for that!

We are moving to Wall Hill Road. Hoping to be in by the end of July, we are just waiting for stables to go up which is scheduled for mid july....all very exciting, if not a little daunting! x

Dont suppose you know anything about Meriden School either do you?? !!

I have an 8 year old and we are looking at Meriden primary and Allesley primary x

I always make sure it's just Antony doing my shoes but yes he has tried to allow an apprentice to do mine in the past. Other than my horse going through a bad patch of loosing shoes fingers crossed he has been good.

All refs to Bell Equine are moot: Sandy Bell passed away last month...

Bell's client list was taken on by Avonvale. Have skimmed rest of thread and seen lots of refs to 608 - we've been with them for about 20 years and wouldn't think of moving. Excellent bunch and practice.

I live in Meriden. School is very good if you can get in. Most new people having to go to Balsall Common.
608 as vets. Aron Tyler farrier lovely farrier always on time and cares about his work.

Thank you to Admin for removing the post as requested. I do totally agree with your advice re people should be allowed to read opinions, however the farrier has now apologised. Thank you for the PM's also :-)

Another one for Corner House Equine. My farrier is Charlie Emmett who is based in CV5 area. You could try him, he is an excellent farrier, xrays of my horses front feet show excellent hoof balance and my vet is delighted with my farrier.
