Any users of this bedding on here willing to review? I am looking for alternative for flax as we've had problems with rats which seem to love nesting in it & then the dogs rip the bales apart trying to get at them. I intend to use on rubber mats, semi deep litter. For a pallet it's quite reasonable but don't want to end up with rubbish bedding. Thanks!

I haven't used this brand however I have used chopped rape straw.

Very similar to flax and fairly soft, how much is it per bale?

99% of the time I use miscanthus, which is similar but more absorbent - I can't find anything that performs and works for me that is as good :)

Thanks. Works out £6.77 a bale for pallet of 36 delivered. I have used miscanthus before & liked it but just finishing burleybed which is miscanthus but don't find it absorbent. Can't seem to get miscanthus elsewhere, am in Northants

It's a decent price :)

I get my miscanthus direct from Caviera and store it outside.

At that price it's worth a punt tbh, I have decided to go for full deep litter, usually do semi, so far (2 months) so good :)

I use equinola on rubber matting, semi deep litter (take out wet about once per week when out all night in of a day, maybe twice per week when in of a night.)

I find it absorbent, clean and dry (wet goes to the bottom), easy to muck out, smells good (until you disturb the bottom obviously!), copd pony doing brill on it so all in all I love it.

I found wood pellets easier and cheaper but the horses prefer to lie down on the equinola and it's better for the muck heap.

Hope that helps! Any qs feel free to ask :)

I used this for the first time last year and would use it again. I used it on rubber mats in my hill ponies large shelter where they spend a lot of time in winter. I just bedded down the back part (about 15ft wide and 8 ft out) It bedded down well, I just removed the droppings daily and raked it level. They, 4 of them, were very keen to pee in their shelter and it coped well, certainly as well as any other bedding and better than most. I topped up a bale every 5 days or so. They lay down a lot on it.

Rats were not a problem, the cat slept in the shelter with the ponies!

Been using this for 2 years and love it. I don't have rubber mats so have a deep bed on concrete. I remove the wet once a week, replacing with one bale per week, winter or summer. It doesn't move so he never ends up on the concrete and providing you have it deep enough the wet won't come to the surface. The worst bit is breaking up a new bale, they are really tightly packed.

Our whole yard uses it, some on rubber mats and some not. It is very absorbant, easy to muck out, less dusty than shavings and less smelly than straw, we get it delivered for 6.50 a bale. We were using nedz but it is £3 a bale more and the bales are the same weight. Very happy with it

I tried it and didn't get on with it at all. Switched to sundown yellow which has been fab and can be bought at blue barn saddlery :-)
