I have a prescription with vets uk and seems to be a shortage of normal equipalazone but they have flavoured .

Their costs have really increased since Xmas , is there a shortage all round does anyone know . I would switch companies but I have 200 still to use from my prescription. Annoying as it’s cheaper at pet drugs online 🙈

I use Danilon (much kinder for them) and I thought it was a lot more expensive than general Bute to buy but I can get a box of 60 online with a subscription for £96 so there’s not a lot of difference anymore! My Vet has also suggested I try Equioxx long term as that is even safer so another thing to think about maybe if the short supply continues.

Equioxx has been suggested as a possibility instead of Bute or Danilon .

My lad is 30 so im open for anything that helps him . He's in fantastic shape for his age , vet is amazed how well he is which is lovely.

Just had a full MOT and teeth checked which are all good, he moves like a teenager still so I’m happy.

Apparently Equioxx goes straight to the source of pain and isn’t processed the same way as Bute and Danilon so it is kinder on the gut and liver. I had a Vet suggest it to me recently and it was the first time any had before but they said a lot of their clients with older horses have changed to it so we are going to give it a try after this current box of Danilon.

That’s fab news about your boy! 😊

Yes my vet said the same . She said I would know within a week to ten days if it would be better than Bute . Always worth keeping options open .
