Can anyone recommend good places to buy equisand/silica sand for our new arena please??

We have everything is arranged for the build (ready to go as soon as the pp comes through) and I know where we are getting the rubber for the top from just need to source the equisand/silica sand now

The problem with silica sand is that it is so hit and miss with what you get.
We had problems and had to take it all up and start again, we had bought "equestrian silica sand"
We put Trackright down in the end and I have been really pleased with it.
If you do go down the route of silica then have it analysed (sp) first to check that is is firstly angular (not round) and not single sized.
If it isn't anglular and is single sized then in effect it is like riding on a bag of marbles, it will never compact and will always ride deep.
Good luck, it is a minefield!

Use either the surrey equestrian sand from Alruba rubber in Ashbourne Derbys or the Trackright, DO NOT GO TO ANYONE ELSE !
The surrey sand which is from either REDHILL or Reigate in surrey is the best sand you can find for arenas.

DO NOT USE ANYTHING ELSE OR ANY OTHER SAND, i am currently having the same problem HOLLYF had...mine was from a place very very local to me who still advertise it when it is totally unsuitable.

Thanks guys... This is way I am getting people recommendations... I want to get suitable sand and not any old silica sand that is being passed off as equisand because I have read soooo many stories about the wrong sand and I want to get it right first time... its not everyday you get to build a new arena

Has anyony had or knows someone that has had a dispute with a company that supplies equestrian surfaces re the performance or the sand or materials added to the sand (fibres, materials). If so, I would be very interested to hear about your experience and if you were successful. We have an on-going dispute with a certain well known company that has supplied us with a surface which is completly useless particulary when dry ie sand is deep, displaces and is slippy!
