Equissage/Equilibrium massage pads

Can anyone explain wht the difference is between these two products?

Both appear to offer similar massage but at vastly different prices, explanation very welcome to the uneducated :)

Any positive/negative views?

I have used both, and much prefer the equilbrium one. The equilibrium one is shaped like a saddle pad and as well as having different strengths it does different motions meanwhile the equssage only vibrates. Also it sits over the shoulders and doesn't tend fit on horses as well, especially narrower types. Everyone I have spoken to prefers the equilbrium one, and frankly the equissage is a bit overpriced, as its no longer new technology.
 
I have the Equissage (bought it many years ago) and I must admit I would buy the Cyclissage rug now.

I think Equilibrium pad is probably good value for money but it has a different action from Equissage/Cyclossage.

Thanks KatieLovesJames, Sorry to be thick i've not seen either can anyone explain how it has a different action? and what difference the action might make

(ps have sent an email to both companies for info also, but am expecting both will say ours is better)

I believe the Equissage/Cyclossage have cyclonic action. The bloke who created Cyclosssge worked at Equissage prior.
I think the Equilibrium just has a vibrating action. I have Equissage friend bought Equilibrium pad and liked it but later bought Cyclossage. I'll buy one too when I've some spare cash!
The Equilibrium does work but not as thoroughly as Cyclossage rug but there is a huge price difference!! It's a good budget option and certainly easy to transport and use and shows/before work etc.
The Equissage is not a pleasure to use unfortunately! I'll probably buy the Equilibrium as a stop gap until my numbers come up!!
 
I have the Equilibrium Massage Pad, and the Mitt. I find both are really good. I used to use them on my old racehorse, Bob, who would fall asleep with it on. He really loved it, and did him a power of good, as being an ex-racehorse he had a few problems with back and legs. And as he got older, it really helped in keeping him supple. I now use it on my other horse, Murphy, who also enjoys a good session with them. They vibrate, sometimes low and sometimes high. The pad runs for a 30 minute session, with variable settings, and the mitt runs for 10 minutes in a session, though obviously you can extend these times, or shorten them, whichever suits at the time. The battery life is pretty good too. I'm very pleased with mine. One of the best things I ever bought for my horses. Great for warming up, and for relaxing after, I found.
 
I have the equilibrium pad and my horses love it, they chillax while eating hay with it on. And I think they feel looser after having the pad on if they are ridden in the morning straight out of the stable. It seems to have a calming effect too. I use it especially if I`ve had the chiro/muscle lady out too just to settle it over the next few days.
It has a pattern of movements throughout the pad, from a vibrating brrrrr, to a purring purrrr, purrrr, purrrr in different areas of the pad so covers a large area not just in the same place like the equissage. :)
 
I haven't used the equilibrium but have heard good things about them. I have used equissage and now have a cyclossage rug, which is possibly the best thing I have ever brought. I think as said above it's all about the actions of them which make them different.
 
My friend has just started making her own and they are fantastic with different speeds/settings/intensities etc and cost alot less than the equilibrium! Shows the huge mark up they have on them!!

We have the equilibrium and the horses all seem to love it, even my friends horse who hated the equissage. The equilibrium is much quieter than the equissage, and also much cheaper! :)
 
crikey - just google the cyclo-ssage rug. Just over £3K so that is not going on my horses Xmas list anytime soon.

So to add to the questions, for a horse in work with no muscular issues, would the cheaper options be just as good? I do like the idea of warming up the horses back (particularly in winter) but this could just be me being soft and of no actual value to the horse. Just to add something else, a friend of mine has bought a rug with ceramic inserts (from "backontrack" for her dressage horse who does suffer from stiffness - she is raving about it and the price is around the £200 mark. So what the real benefits to paying out for rugs like this? not int in the sales speel, want to hear from actual owners.
 
I am getting (when it arrives!) a magnetic rug for my horse - did a post on here asking about them a while ago. Its an equimagents one I think - a lovely birthday present from my mum and dad for my 30th. He doesn't have any back problems as such, but after a ligament injury, does have some sore spots on his back and sacro iliac. I am hoping that the rug, and with chiro I can make him all better.

Then maybe one day I can ride again!

Exactly my thoughts. I also think the equissage is too heavy on smaller horse/ponies and the battery pulls to one side unbalancing it.
 
I've an equilibrium rug and love it. Some of mine are noticeably looser and freer after use, whereas some are not, however, they do all seem to like it and sleep quite happily for half an hour whilst it works throught it's cycle. Interestingly, on the most intense setting, all of mine get very warm and sweaty underneath the rug, so it clearly is doing something!
Agree that battery life is good too - overall am delighted with it :-)
