If money was no object which one would you choose? The equissage machine for horses is just a pad and roller system that goes over the saddle area. The cyclossage system is a full rug from ears to tail and has big pads in that massage all the major muscle areas. If you were to buy one which would you choose?

Would you consider hiring one if someone locally had one to hire?

the rug, definitely.
yes, i might well hire one.
i had an Equissage last year with a visiting horse, wasn't impressed by it at all tbh. most telling was that if i went into a stable with it, and the horse was loose, it would turn its bum to me and try to hide in the corner... eloquent, imho.
i have an Equilibrium now which, while much weaker, does not elicit a negative response from the horse...
a friend has the massage rug and really rates it.

Thanks for that. Yeah I'm inclined to believe that the cyclossage is much better. Hypothetically speaking, how much would you expect to pay to hire one?

umm, i think it would depend if someone had to bring it every time, or i had to pick it up, etc... difficult. umm, £20 an hour maybe? if it was more than that i'd prob get a qualified Equine Massage Therapist instead, an ESMA member, as they can diagnose, tell me things i didn't know about my horse, etc.

If money was no object, i wouldn't buy either, i'd buy an Activo-Med rug.. it's the only rug to have pulsed electromagnetic and massage. And i think it's cheaper than an Equissage (although could be wrong there)...

I don't know what Baydale has??
I managed to get a free demo at Blenheim, and i'm sure it made a difference to him!! If money was no object, it's what i'd be getting.. and i know it's in the same price bracket as the Equissage and the Cyclossage, even tho it does alot more than they do!!! If you have that sort of money to spend, and want to buy a product like that, i don't see why you'd even consider the other two (and before anyone asks, i'm nothing to do with the company, and have nothing to gain from plugging them on here, but if they want to give me a free one, i'd obviously snap their hands off)
I'm actually eying up an Equilibrium!! but it'll have to wait untill i have a job!!

Yes you're right - I've got an Activo-Med one and it is brill and my neddies go to sleep when it's on them!!! I think it was about £2000 (bought it about 2 years ago so can't remember exact price).

I had a demo of the cyclossage rug the other day and the results were amazing. We rode the horse before and after and he was a completely changed horse. I'm not convinced on the equissage and have a heard a few opinions that it evokes a negative response from a lot of horses. I've not heard of the other rugs but will look into them ... thanks guys!

I haven't used the rugs, or seen them up close, but I did buy an equissage earlier this year. It was a last ditch attempt to fix a horse that had rotated over a xc fence a few months earlier, and seems to have worked wonders. He loves it. I do find others are suspicious of the roller, but once they get used to the idea they seem to like it. x
