Hi just after a some comments on equissage. Ive been thinking about getting one for a while and Im going to a demo tonight. does anyone have any comments. I have two recently started yougsters so thought it would be good for them. The only info I can find is their sales info which looks good but then it would wouldnt it!

Hi

I really love mine, use it most days and Saf defo feels better and warms up better when I use it. I always use it after hard work to relax her down. I bought mine after she had a bad fall and suffered some damage to her right off hind and the nerves would not switch off and the patch on her 1/4s would constantly sweat. I used the hand unit on the area and have had no muscle wastage which was predicted.
Have also used the hand unit on me when I have the odd fall

Brill - I hoped you would say that!

Im getting one!

I just think it must be hard for yougsters to get used to carrying weight and this would warm them up before I plonk my fat 13stone backside on them - I bred them and am still in shock that they are old enough to hack out now! I forgot how sharp a yougster can be to - will use the handheld on my wiplash!

LOL at you

Was great on my friends horse who was a bit sharp to get on, wish I had it when I broke Saf, good luck with the youngsters, keeps us updated

Will do, just got my 4yo back from a few weeks schooling - he needed to learn to keep at least two legs on the ground! im just hacking him around the hills at the moment - getting sick of ninja phesants though - I'd forgot what its like to ride a young horse!

i think they're very expensive for what they are. i have had a demo, and a very very very hard sell, including the agent asking who my chiropractor was and then assuring me that that person "uses and recommends them" (the chiro is a friend... she certainly does not, and threatened legal action). the agent assumed that, after a demo, i would instantly buy one, and a handheld, and put a lot of pressure on when i didn't.
i already have a massage that i bought 10 years ago which acts in just the same way. when they do the demo with the marble on top of the fist, turning... my old massage does exactly the same thing. nothing unique there... basic physics.
having said which... if someone gave me one, i'd be pretty happy.

Ive got one. Had it about a year now and my boys love it! We had a demo and had no intention of buying one. The girl understood this and didnt pressurise us in any way, she would have been happy going away without a sale. The boys enjoyed it so much we thought we would go mad and have one. One of my boys used to come out of his stable quite stiff in the morning but when i equissage him he loosens up no end. I can tell when i havent used it for a week or so.
I also use it on them after XC when eventing to relax their muscles and unwind them.
Cant recommend it highly enough.

did have a demo about 2 years ago, after it being recommended by a trainer that uses them for warming up his horses - he loves them and says it cuts down a little on warm up time, good for him as he has 15 plus horses to ride each day - my horse absolutely hated it, bronced in his stable, and very very upset with it all. (and he is usually very cool and laid back). Our other horses seemed to be ok with it though, but I honestly couldn't tell the difference upon riding immediately after treatment. We have a sports therapist come regularly which I see the benefit of, but personally I wouldn't use one. A therapist can feel so much with their hands and respond approriately, rather than a machine.

Had a demo at the beginning of the year and was seriously impressed. The horse I used has stiffness problems and there was a marked improvement on this way of going after 20 minutes of the equissage. However they are 2K! I haven't ruled out getting one, but it is a huge outlay. Let me know what you think of the demo - I think the rep has changed since I had the demo at my yard.

thanks for the comments, I think i want one but I'll get the rep to come up and try it on the horses first, no point buying one if they hate it! Hadnt even considered that before!

i bought one december year complete with hand held ,boot thing, bag etc and i reckon its been on the horses back about 7 times, dont think the boot thing has even been near him! daughter just cant be bothered with it so im going to sell it.could put the proceeds in my horse fund.
